Alfalfa too rich?

    I have prime alfalfa hay left over from winter. do you think its too rich to use as heavy mulch on my garden?

    Mulch --yes fine! Lucky you! You know what they say, you can never be too rich or too thin!

    I liken it to seeing how the forest is enriched by the fallen leaves, dead animal bodies, branches, etc that are rotting on top of the soil. If you will notice, forest soil is just perfect. That's because of all the rich materials on top decomposing.
