I read in a farming book ( Forgot the name )I got at the library that I could feed my rabbits acorns. I have plenty of them on my property and was wondering if anybody else does this. Surley, acorns alone would not be enough would it?
Anyone do this?? I have a ZILLION acorns on my place....sure would save on the feed bill. BTTT, hopefully for an answer.....
Acorns of white oak are considered choice food for many wildlife species [118], including the white-footed mouse, fox squirrel, black bear, pine mouse, red squirrel, and cottontail rabbits here: http://www.fs.fed.us/database/feis/plants/tree/quealb/management_considerations.html But, then, we don't have "cotton-tails".
The goats, sheep, pig, horses and poultry get all of ours before I get much chance to pick them up. and we have nearly 30 acres in oak trees.
