Last kidding of the season arrived last night nearly a week early. I had started confinement that morning expecting the kids Friday or Saturday. Inspite of the baby monitor being turned up I didn't have a clue until I let the dogs out and heard a wee kid crying. Nigerian first timer delivered twin bucklings on her own. Although small they seem healthy. Still watching to see if new mom and kids can get on the same page in the nursing department. The jury is still out but I think it's going to be ok.

The last five kids delivered here have been a straight run of boys. I think I need a sack of black chicken bones or turtle teeth or something that'll hex up some doelings next time.

Glad they're here in one piece though.

I Know How You Feel My Buck Out Of 13 Kids He Only Put Out 1 Doeling. She Is A Pretty Thing But Still Just One. I Named Her Star Because She Has A Star On The Very Top Of Her Head. Only 6 Days Old Her And Her Brother, Last Ones For 6 Months. Seems Like We Need A Buck Who Can Put Out Both Sexes. Now I Have To Wearther Them In This Heat. Hope In 6 Months I Get Some Doelings From Him Or I Will Sell And Look For Another One.

We Have Mostly High % Boer's And 3 Milk Goats. Buck Is 100% Boer And A Whooper And 200 Lbs.
Good Luck With Your Buklings And Your New Mom.

    Hmm...well I got exactly what I wanted..

Boer Doe had 2 girls and 1 boy.
Another Boer doe had 1 boy
    Alpine X had a girl
Alpine doe had 1 boy 1 girl
La Mancha X had 1 boy and 1 girl
La Mancha doe had 1 boy 1 girl.

So the total is 5 boys and 6 girls. I got EXACTLY what I wanted from each doe :) . How lucky is that! I got how many I wanted and what gender I wanted.

Mother Nature (I don't blame this on God because he isn't that cruel :) wasn't good to us this year either, with 41 kids, 29 bucks and 12 doelings. Plus the majority of the doelings were out of first and second frehsners, with my best two does having all bucks (deposit's I had to give back...OUCH!!!)

If any of the above charms work, please share them with us!! Vicki

I believe that I had beginners luck with having (2) sets of twin doelings. I do have one more doe to go. I am hoping (crossing my fingers) for two more does to finish off the year. Not sure if I will get so lucky my first season. My doelings were from two different bucks though.

    Congratulations on your bucklings though!!

Out of 4 does I got 7 kids.

5 does and 2 bucks (wethers now).

The only singleton was a doeling to a first freshener.

    I am quite satisfied.

22 kids born this past season.
14 bucks and 8 does...one of each in a set of premature twins that didn't make it. I did not get a couple taht we really wanted but since the doe we thought was barren (turend three this year) decided the third year was the charm and gave us one of each, it isn't so bad.
We will have at least two kid in August and hopefully five.
