I made it to the meeting place where John and I were going to transfer the AmChins right about 8:30== a half hour before I had figured-- so I sat and ate a light dinner as I waited. I noticed a car pulled over behind me after a while, and took a better look-- OOOPS!!! A cop was involved, and the car's driver was saying something about "license" and showing the cop all kinds of papers-- John showed up about then- and when he let down his tailgate, and then I did the same-- the cops gave us a good long look, especially when John started unloading cages. So two things were happening to draw the attention of passers-by-- the rabbit transfer and the arrests!!! As we lifted cages, the female driver was cuffed-- and her boyfriend was, as well. They were placed in a cruiser, and a tow truck arrived to claim the vehicle they had been in-- John and I removed a widow from my truck cap. He told me a bit about the rabbits-- who the litter dams were, which one was unshowable, one buck had not produced, etc... the cops kept looking at us-- and I guess we provided some entertainment for the couple, as well.
John was upset about ony having 26 animals for me-- he lost one of the juniors to heat in the morning, as well. I told him the lot price was so good, I was not going to ask for a reduction in the cost--- the price I paid was real good-- and one of the does only needs one more leg to GC. So I came away with 8 very mature adults, and 18 juniors.
Now the work begins-- getting these guys all gentled down, tattooed, and shown. :help: With the numbers I am starting out with, I should be able to start selling meat in very short order, and still work on the breed preservation aspect. I guess it is time to eliminate some of the rexes....
