2010 Homesteading Today Request for Photos…
As most of you know, we did a 2009 Calendar.
We did not have a lot of time, but got fantastic photos and the moderators/admins of HT narrowed the field of photos. After we had them down some, YOU of HT voted in a poll for enough photos for the cover and 10 of the 12 months (two months had to be certain of the narrowed field of photos).
This year – Here’s what I am going to ask to be done”
1. Photos from August 2008 thru end of August 2009 are emailed to me at [email protected].
2. The theme of this year’s Calendar will be "Homesteaders in Action" (thank you for the title OhioDreamer). This means hoeing, butchering (not too gory please), poultry plucking, tractor driving, knitting, sewing, putting up solar arrays, house raisings, etc.
3. At the end of the month I am planning (subject to change due to an unforeseen circumstances) to have a series of Polls for the HT membership at large to vote on. It may be where there are so many entries, the Mods and Admins may have to narrow the field – but I hope to let HT members choose.
4. Since we are trying for a variety and cross-HT representation I suggest some categories that the photo represents –
a. Homesteading in general
b. Family (gatherings, working together, playing together, etc)
c. Livestock (Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Pigs, Horses, etc.)
d. Pets
e. Holidays
f. Homemaking crafts (anything in those forums)
g. Outside Skills (Alt Energy, Shop, Great Outdoors)
h. Front Cover (best representation of any of the above and HT site)
5. I know that there probably will be photos that fit into more than one category. Please put the categories you think it will apply to in the email to me with the TWO photos per member name. (and put the member name in the email with the photos, please)
6. Please put your contact information (email and maybe a phone number) this is just if there is a question along the way, I can call you. Questions for me – just label the email as a question, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I reasonably can.
7. I am planning to assign a letter or number or combination to the labeling on the photos so the voting will be on the photos and not the member and how much you like or dislike them.
8. The 13 winning photos will get a free calendar. For the rest of us, it appears that the calendar wills be the same price, but until printed that is NOT guaranteed.
9. I am aiming to have these ready by at least Mid to Late October, so we will have them for Christmas or other presents, etc.
