i dug the earliest planted potatos today as i noticed one or two showed a bad spot. i couldn't help but peak under the mulch. i didn't want them to rot or get eaten so i dug 10 feet of my row today and got about 18 lbs. of potatos. one was 1 lb. 6.5 oz. and another was 1 lb. 2.5 oz. t

this was the first year i have grown potatos since i was a kid. i was very happy. i planted somewhat shallow and mulched heavy on the first ten feet of row until i ran out of mulch. they were all easy to harvest as they were growing just barely under the soil and right at the mulch line.

i have another row that is mulched lightly. i may try to raise the drooping plants and add some mulch now. i plan to try to plant some more grocery store seed potatos, lol, species unknown. we will see how a second planting goes.

    :)

Congrats on the great haul!! I just pulled my early taters too - 24 pounds from an 8'x5' bed.
