Owner of property on my road recently had some gigantic pine trees cut down and roots dug up. In doing so, it literally destroyed the "privacy screen" those trees had provided my place thru the years. This meant I needed to replace those with something that would serve the same purpose; so I ordered some "fast-growing" thuja trees and a few blue spruce from Burgess Seed and Plant Co. It took forever for them to arrive; and when they did I was shocked at their sizes...nothing even a foot tall....
Well it was a fairly cool morning so off I went to dig the seven (yes 7 holes for 7 trees) holes in which to place these teeny tiny things. ROFL Hoping in a year or so I'll be laughing as I see how fast they get larger. Well, for all you older people you know even taking a heavy post hole digger across half an acre of sloping/rough terrain is not an easy (nor safe) chore. Still I managed to get all 7 holes dug. Made it back to the trailer and rested half an hour. Then off I went again with a 5 gallon can of water and all 7 trees inside this in one hand and my bench in the other. LOL I have little doubt it was a funny sight had someone seen me. Still I managed to get this out to where the holes were. Trimming the roots, spreading them out in the holes and making sure the depth of burial was appropriate for the tree was easy. It was my poor old knees that started yelling at me...each time I got down on them and up again. Oh yes this wonderful bench (Can turn it upside down so as to have handles on side to get up with.) was my life support during this entire time. Still I got the job done....
Now in doors with my old bones telling me I over did it...again...I can hardly believe I got it all done. ROFL Sure am feeling good about this and have high hopes that within a few years, my privacy screen will be back; and this time it will be one I have control over whether or not it stays. ROFL
