Good question. I would think it would. Chickens have problems being alone.
How are you going to get only one? From the store? I would recommend getting more than one if that is the case. Turkey poults die. They also like to get eaten by predators. In my limited turkey experience, I swear some of them throw themselves in the mouth of a predator half their size for fun.
It's better with two so they'll compete for food making them eat more so they grow huge. It's like seeing who can grow the biggest pumpkin with broad breasted turkeys. I tried Bourbon Reds also, they're were pretty cool and would roost in the trees plus they would forage so you could feed them less. But, they didn't get as big and there was much less breast meat as the BB

I also agree with getting a couple. I had a 45 pound one that we cooked for thanksgiving. It was so good. Fresh air, green grass and lots of bugs makes for a great bird. A feed mill close to us sells started birds. 6 weeks old I think. Turkey poults are not as hardy as chickens for some reason.
