He made it to just a few months short of 100. We were talking about him last week and when I mentioned that I that I thought he had died about 20 years or so ago, one of the guys having breakfast with us told me I was thinking about when he turned his revival preaching over to his son and if he lived to October or November of this year he would bee 100.
He got his 70 years mentioned in the bible and a good bit more, Hope his retirement years were in as best of health expected as approaching a century could be.
On Feb. 1, 1972, unaware of Nixon’s Oval Office taping system, when Nixon ranted about how Jews “totally dominated” the media, Graham said “this stranglehold has got to be broken or this country is going down the drain.” He also told Nixon that Jews are the ones “putting out the pornographic stuff.” One can reasonably acquit Graham of anti-Semitism only by convicting him of toadying. When Graham read transcripts of Nixon conspiring to cover up crimes, Graham said that what “shook me most” was Nixon’s vulgar language

I was just posting portion of a George Will column, a known conservative. It is actually a good read. And the main point was even good men are not always good.
I was never a fan of Billy Graham because his broadcasts would postpone the prime time tv viewing I wanted to watch as a kid.
I think Christians need to study Billy Graham's ways. He was righteous, but not self-righteous. He paid attention to politics, but was not publicly partisan. And more than anything, he brought forth the Gospel!
I cringe when I see some of my church friends identifying so solidly with political figures. Do they not know that these politicians are most often using them and will, most likely, leave them red-faced with embarrassment at some point? I believe as Christians we should vote and be involved, but we should not allow ourselves to be marginalized due to our politics. And when we are marginalized, so is the Gospel, which I believe is a great cost.
A old saying I seem to recall was to never follow another man so close that when he falls into the mud it splashes all over you.
Billy Graham was an inspiration and much more to many millions and yet he was just a man.
Another person who made up the fabric of my life, gone. When a Billy Graham revival was on TV, it was must watch at our house. Me and grandma would often go across the street to a friend/neighbor so they could watch together and there would be cookies or other homemade treats. I often dozed off during the actual sermon, though!
Mr. Graham promoted the Christian faith without exploiting issues or being divisive. Too bad his son didn't follow more closely in his footsteps.
My mother also watched those revivals. They were broadcast on national television during prime time and lasted at least 90 minutes or more. They all ended with the playing of "Come As You Are" and thousands of people heading for the alter.
I'm a little skeptical NBC would be so eager to repeat history, in spite of the societal issues shared today.
He was a good man, but like the rest of us, never perfect.
Yesterday morning he finally got his wish to meet God, face to face.
The little town of Montreat NC is gonna be a little hectic for a few days, but this too shall pass.
ANGOLA, LA (WAFB) - Inmates at one of the country's most well-known prisons will have a hand in laying Reverend Billy Graham to rest. At his request, Angola inmates built his casket back in 2006.
Louisiana State Penitentiary is known as the "Alcatraz of the south." It’s home to the state's most notorious criminals, but is also home to a renowned prison ministry.
