I have several cross body bags so I'm hands free. I do like the look of the square belt bags that look like wristlets, I'll check them out this weekend during the shopping escape weekend with my oldest daughter.
That was great, some were horrible, and some I think I could use. I used them years ago when we went to say an amusement park, cramming everything in that we might need that would fit hahaha.
I now use a tiny wristlet type thing that I can shove in my pocket and attach it to the belt loop. I've been purse free for at least 20 years!
My youngest has a wristlet and puts it in her pocket too. I just have too much absolutely necessary ( ) stuff, although I have downgraded from the weekender sized bags I used to carry.
I used to love my fanny pack. I could carry my stuff in it without having junk in my pockets. I could throw it on the bedside table at the end of the day and throw it back on the next day. But my wife teased me unmercifully. I then had some smart ass kid selling popcorn at the movie theater say, "Nice fanny pack," and chuckle. That was the last straw. I miss my fanny pack.
Havent seen any around here yet but I dont keep up with fashion anyway. Some of the people I know used to wear them though. I'm still think it stupid when the guys at work that put their billfold in the glove box everyday and not keep it with them. Then when they ride with me to get lunch I have to pay.

I have and I don't mind it at all. Just depends on if I have the pants on that day for it.
I've developed a tick so to speak when in crowds of touching my back pocket everytime someone brushes past me. Just an OC response and concern over pickpockets I guess and why I'm trying other options.
I still have mine from 30 years ago. might drag it out again. good for sometimes but I have a lot of stuff that would never fit. when I go shopping for the day I need a lot. lipstick, sanitizer, pen, notebook, Kleenex. bills, coin purse, lip balm, vicks inhaler, small knife or the like. I've used that lots of times when I want to cut off tags of something that I want to use before I get home, tp. I like using my own. car keys, house keys etc. etc. that reminds me I really need a bigger bag. must check that tomorrow. I never used the fanny belt on back though always on the front. ~Georgia
The only "Fanny Pack" I ever had...was on loan from My Uncle Sam...So was the M5 Aid Bag,A large Alice Pack and a Rifle and usually a case of C-Rations..lol
Speaking of wallets being bad for backs...have any of you men tried a front pocket wallet? DH got one at Duluth Trading last summer and he really likes it.
I was bothered having to leave my wallet in a locker at the gym...so started carrying it in the left shirt pocket.....when there...
Also been wearing sweats and short more and more....makes this the new normal.
Generally my wallet was a large collection of cards, receipts, pocket magnifier bandaids toothpicks .....too much stuff.....
Was pretty thick....so....opted for a slimmed down cheap wallet that also turned out to be lined with foil...("Card Lock") so scanners can't tell what's in there...(does that work?.. or is it important?....don't know or care)....but was flat, skinny to carry minimum cash and cards and were $3 bucks each.
Since then I have lost my "wallet butt dent" so no longer carry it there.
I crowds I do carry a back pocket wallet with some cash and maybe one CC as a decoy...have a had a close call of pick pocket......as the wallet was on a small langard you could not see.
As far as Fanny packs.....the most used it my hunting fanny pack....full of gear.
Very ueful for a 3-4 hour hike. Carry a bit of food, extra water, dog treats. So they have
