I love that artisan ship. I went once to Silver Dollar City in Branson and saw that one work his art. It is art to me. I have a forge here bought in an auction but have no clue how to use it. My father told me of a semi secret guild. Only three Americans were a part of it back in the '90's. The one in Branson was one of them. Another on OK. and I cant remember where the third was (he knew but I cant remember). The rest were in Germany (the most) and Japan (5 I think) and a few scattered across the world. I dont know the accuracy of this but it sounded good to me since my father told me this. He never intentionally lied. This was before the net so it probably has changed somewhat.

The show that Oregon was talking about is "Forged in Fire." http://www.history.com/shows/forged-in-fire

I don't have a TV but got to see more than a few of these shows at my brother's house.

In 2014 I saw an episode that I will never forget. All the contestants had the latest and greatest equipment, except one guy who apparently didn't have the money for all that expensive stuff. His blacksmithing equipment was very homespun and rather primitive... He even used a hubcap to contain his fire!

He produced a beyond-beautiful blade that passed the rigorous tests, and won the show!

I read something the other day about a guy who burned down a large portion of his neighborhood because he had seen that show and was "inspired" to try to forge a sword over a fire in a barrel in his back yard:

‘Forged in Fire’ Becomes ‘Destroyed by Fire’ as Amateur Bladesmith Torches Neighborhood
By Chris Jasurek DECEMBER 2, 2017

"John Gomes, 51, accidently burned down three buildings and damaged at least two dozen others while trying to forge a medieval weapon in his back yard. (Handout photo)
A man pretending to be a medieval blacksmith started a multiple-alarm fire in upstate New York, which damaged or destroyed 32 buildings.

John A. Gomes, 51, of Cohoes, New York, was trying to forge a medieval weapon using a fire he started in a barrel in a lot near his home at 228 Remsen St., Gomes. he was imitating a History Channel television series “Forged in Fire” where contestants make swords, spears, and axes out of random metal, sometimes using open, coal-fired forges.

Gomes was charged with felony counts of reckless endangerment and arson. He is free on $15,000 bail."

That is tragic
