OK these two brown ones just showed up broke in ... can someone tell me the breed ? They been here about two or three months and seem to want to stay . Hang on trying to post pics
NO they came over here to pick on big boy . Try and take his girls lol . This black one showed up same way year half ago came to see big boy . Those are there offspring
In the mix and no one ever came looking for them .
SEEMS as so they had me looking sideways so i have dee balled two of em albeit have 3 with pigs on the way ones due in 11 days or so . Eveyones animals show up here . I think your on to somthing ...
id suggest placing a decent sized sign at ya front gate ---posting your number --in case people want to drop off animals (free bacon) so far --imagine what else ya might get
boar Hogs will find a way in when they want to get to the female . my pigs could push to the bottom of my fence and get out really easy if they want to but they have no reason to go nowhere
I'm not sure what breed (s) you are raising or what size they mature at, but to have a couple worthless potbellied boars show up and take over my breeding plans would not have entertained me as much as you seem to be. Good for you to be able to laugh it off.
Probably not much chance they also brought pseudo rabies or some variety of parasites, but feral hogs are not welcome on most hog operations.
I wish I had this problem. Meat just showing up. I have to breed, buy, search, repeat. Pigs just showing up in your pasture, what a deal!
Btw folks, all pigs are made of meat and can be made to taste good.
Back in January my daughter and I caught five of seven piglets in my garden. Gave some away and kept three which are coming along nicely now.
Turns out one of my neighbors turned them loose though I didn't find that out till several months later. He initially told me he had no idea whose they were.
Fortunately I had a an old henyard available to put them in so I didn't have to try to rig something on the fly.
I Have had pigs show up on 3 occasions now and it's pretty hilarious to me because they get here and they stay here . most of all they are good on the grill I'll send some pictures next time I butcher one how they turn out but it's really good eating . corn fed sweet feed mix and free-range and whatever is left over in the kitchen . way better than store-bought meat .
