Birth Announcement/Baby Donkey

My Murphie had her baby this afternoon!   I came home from work after checking her 3 hours earlier, and there stood this little bitty gray cutie beside her in the back part of the yard.

Pics will be posted tomorrow, but I was just so excited, I wanted to tell someone!

I found out today that he is a little boy. This picture was taken after dark. I'll try and get some better pics (where they aren't squinting) in the daylight. :)

We are having trouble with a name. My daughter wants to name him "Seymour" after the character from "Little Shop of Horrors," (Her new favorite movie.) but I'm not sure. Any suggestions would be great...

Last night, I went out and sat with them so he will get used to me. Murphie was more calm about it. He came over to me and really looked me over. I was able to "corral" him and check him over (count his "fingers and toes---LOL). He wasn't sure about me holding on to him at first, but I calmly explained that I was part of the family and I would be taking care of him too. He is a wooly little guy! I didn't realize they were so fuzzy when they were first born.

Hmm... I question naming a donkey after something that craved human flesh and blood, lol. Think herbivore!

He is so stinking cute I cannot STAND it... and so little! I want to skritch that fluffy forehead and pet those long ears.

Jen, I have to correct you...Seymour is the nerdy little guy who feeds the evil plant. The plant's name is Audrey II.

And just to make you saw "aaaawwww" even more, here's another picture I took this afternoon:

Oh my goodness that is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen! I'll have to put it on the list of animals I want when we eventually have land.
