one thing to remember about completed sales, some things go in cycles, and what closes today very high might in a couple weeks to a couple months not get a bid on, or might start being less popular. and then keep your eyes on the news for things that are "trendy" and are somewhat desired, and if you see a similar item it may not sell as high but it will still sell.

Here at our yard sales we continually have folks stop in and tell us "you should put that on ebay, you would get more for it" but they dont understand, i get folks who are selling on ebay to purchase that item and three others that wont sell at all on ebay and they keep coming back every time we have a yard sale.....

Now for an idea that could bring you in a little coin, try information..... people are always hungry for information, here on the forum we have people ask a certain question and it gets some response, and then others add to it, but not always is the information complete, and a well presented informative paper will bring you a few dollars from local folks and far away folks too.... look at what is selling on the big online yardsale for information..... mostly in the form of CD's and such but it still sells. Write a booklet of something you know well and it will be yours to sell however and where ever you want to. I know one fella who years ago took pictures of outhouses in Montana, and wrote poems and my mother got 2 of his Muddled Meanderings in an Outhouse and both are signed by Bob Ross, and well I believe those books are still in print and still being peddled by someone somewhere and she bought those back in 1975 from him....

Take pictures of old barns or bridges and people will buy them for the perspective you give to the artwork.... it is a small niche and with all the digital photo hounds out there its hard to sell a huge amount of any one genre, but it can still be done for a few coins.

Write travel articles on your area and submit them to travel magazines, though while the economy is at a slower pace you may be a long while in getting any accepted with so many folks doing the same thing..... there are a huge number of plaes though to submit a short article and story to if you have some interesting destinations locally that no one else is writing about..... ergo until you are asked to write something specific, be carful of spending a lot of time on writing about places like the grand canyon, or other places that get written up quite a bit..... $20.00 here and $200.00 there adds up too, and sooner or later you will score a $2000.00 article without trying. It is all about niche marketing no matter what you are trying..... and just because you write about the haystack over to the johnson place that looks like martha washingtons sister, dont mean anyone will really want to read it, but by the same toke if no one else is writing about it, then no one could have read it anyway..... I personally am tired of reading blogs that started out as decent, but turned into daily messes just to be churning out a few words of so called wisdom, but i never tire of reading a decent article ona subject that interests me even if i already knew most of what was included.

Have fun..... and there are other places to sell than that of the big online yard sale too, you just have to find them.... we tried to put up a new auction place and it got hacked by a fella who was jealous that we were doing so, we had less than 50 folks on the site at the time who were supportive of the idea, and he had over 12,000 followers on his forum, and he was jealous...... got to wtch for idiots everywhere, but maybe one of these days we will put the auction site back up and get it running again..... push me after mining season is over!

Blu3duk,

You give some very, very good ideas.

Items on ebay do often seem to be cyclical.

I love the idea of selling your own original works. It is a very good idea.

Clove
