Pumpkin carving time is coming soon. My chicks will be 15 weeks old on Halloween and I was wondering if I can give the pumpkin innards to my chicks after I carve our Jack-O-Lantern?

I know that full grown chickens like pumpkin and some folks say that pumpkin seeds are a good worm preventative but the seeds seem pretty big to me - can a 15 week old chicken handle a seed that large? Or will I have to chop them up?

    Thanks!

They should be able to handle them just fine. My birds love pumpkin guts.

my bantams who were out with my regular hens would grab the pumpkin seeds and smack them against the ground. It would break them in half so they could eat them. They never had any problem - excipt getting as many seeds as everybody else.

I would wash the seeds, sprinkle with salt and chili, and bake them for myself ! LOL...the chickens can have the rest ........

My mid-July chickens eat squash seeds with no problem.
