I am replacing the wood porch floor on our 1927 Craftsman era home. I've already purchased the wood floor material, pine 1 x 3 tongue and groove. I've already brushed on a coat of a mixture of linseed oil and turpentine as a base preservative and water proofing. I need to prime the wood now, on the face and underside, to prevent moisture from getting into the wood. If I use a white primer coat, and then paint the porch in a green color as a top coat, do I have to worry about the white showing through if the floor gets scratched? Should I have the primer tinted to the same color as the top coat? Thanks in advance!!!!
