Email sent to LaQuinta CS regarding no wifi service-"Its been out for 2 days they're working on it", out of several items on breakfast buffet, no attemptto provide coffee or juice, simply stated "Electricity is out on that wall when lights, toasters and microwave on same wall were working (I went into the restroom to get water and heated my tea in the microwave) This morning WiFi still out "Its been out for 2 days, and it's only available when we have it from 7am, till 11 pm" "Wait till 7 and try again" when, guess what, it's 7:20 am already.
Not a good ending to my vacation.

GMB YUCK on that! I'd be upset!

Not much to report. I have been packing my kitchen stuff this morning. It is going to take a while as I had to wash dishes as I went. It isn't bad, just things that need done! Looking forward to getting all this moving done and over with!

The guy that came and looked at my trailer didn't want it, so he called the lady I'm purchasing from and tried to buy hers out from under me. Total Jerk! I was honest with him about what I have! No shame to me at all but shame on him for trying to be sly and buy hers from under me after we already had a contract in place! She refused! He even offered her all the money right out and she STILL refused! God s truly on my side on this!!!

Working today until six and then home to sign the contract and continue packing and such! It is cold this morning too! 19 degrees when I woke up.

This is THE Month! Elves, Mrs. Claus and I are busy busy busy. Checking the list twice, and for a few more times than that.

Hope all of you Santa Helpers, are having a good month and get your items done without stressing too much.

Remember, family and love are the best gifts. Things come and go, and the ones I give are just to show the love.

Santa - I hope you'll ignore all those marks by my name. I promise I was nicer than it looks! :D

GMB - I'm glad you're sending the hotel admins a complaint. I always try to fill their cards out or send kudos on-line, if my expectations were met or exceeded and likewise when I have customer service issues.
If no one complains, those coming afterwards are not better off either. Rooms are expensive, you should get what you pay for.
I hope your trip has been fun, otherwise!

Michelle - I'm certainly glad your Seller stuck by you!!

It hasn't gotten above 28 degrees today. Fortunately we are not dealing with ice or snow though. I'm thankful to have a big, thick wonderful Winter coat!!

I dropped off 2 coats and an insulated vest at the Shelter today, along with 3 bags of clothes DD gave me to donate. The coats were given to us, but not needed so passing them along, especially during cold weather like this week.

Work has been good today. The 5 day break was so nice, I definitely needed that. We were able to resolve an on going system problem at work today, which is always nice and makes me feel like I've accomplished something!

DGS will need a newer digital TV for his PS4 game system, so I went over to the Pawn Shop at lunch and found a nice 32" Emerson on sale for $89. I put it in layaway until the 15th. DD doesn't want him to get the PS4 system until his birthday, so I agreed to keep that at home until his birthday, after I get the layaway paid off on that at the same Pawn Shop. It's SO much cheaper to buy used and they allow us to hook up all electronics and confirm they work before leaving with them, plus there's a 30 warranty when buying there.
I bought a 12 volt ride on car for the girls and got a Cyber Monday deal online for that. So now, I have all the Christmas gifts bought except one - DD said she would like an electric pencil sharpener. I think I can buy one of those for less than $20. I'm ready to be done with Christmas buying, but I have to say it's so much easier online, Thrifting or Pawn Shop buying than it is fighting the crowds at the big retail stores!

Well, the work day is almost done. I hope to still have some energy left when I get home. I really need to get some more housework done. I did dishes & laundry yesterday, besides fixing dinner, but other than that - I was pretty lazy. :D

    Have a wonderful evening, everyone!

This was day three of 15-20 degrees below normal temperatures here. Today's range was 7-20. We have 8 inches of snow which has now turned to solid ice. No way you can move fast.

We have 3 grouping of sheep so I am hauling hay, feed and water to three different areas. Also separated out our last ram lamb from his mother and a couple of ewe lambs. I saw him today exhibiting definite ram behaviour and he just turned 5 months old. So I sure hope he didn't breed anyone. Sigh!

Took me all morning to get the outside chores done. I have 2 pellet stoves and 2 wood stoves going in various outbuildings. We normally keep a radiant oil heater which just keeps the buildings from freezing and putting frost on tools. But the radiant heaters just will not do the job in this temperatures. I hauled pellets and refilled hoppers. My husband split more kindling and hauled wood.

Just one more really cold day and it should start warming up to near normal temperatures on Wednesday.

I got Christmas presents ordered for the grandsons in Texas. And now I am going to search for a bulky mittens pattern on ravelry.

    Stay warm all.... Susan

Susan, this is one time I'm glad I'm on MY side of the mountains - 19 last night, high 30's today, down to 27 so far tonight. Still cold, but not quite AS cold, and we only have a dusting of snow left on the ground! ;) Have to admit, it's still chilly in my bedroom, but the main living area of the house is cozy. Time to set up a fan and move some of the warmth around.
GMB, I usually have such a good stay at a LaQuinta, but it sounds like your stay was about as nice as my Super 8 a few months ago - NOT nice at all. Hope they give you a free night somewhere or something.
Michelle, what a jerk, for sure! Hope you find a good buyer soon. Moving is stressful enough without things like that. Stay warm!
Vickie, brr at your house, too. Looks like most of us are stuck in the deep freeze today. Good job on getting the shopping nearly finished.
Use Less, I went to last month's thread and read your post. You've had a lot on your plate. Time to start letting go and letting God. It WILL get better, and you will be stronger for having been through it.

I did just a little on-line shopping today - used my Swagbuck earnings (Amazon gift cards) to buy Abby the tablet she wanted. It was on sale for under $50, so a really good deal. I also finally bought my Kindle Fire HD I've had my eye on for so long. I nearly bought it a year or so ago, and decided to wait. Glad I did, as the price has come down so much since then.

Other than that, I've been staying warm and reading. I'm reading Diana Gabaldon's latest Jamie and Claire epic. Usually I race right through them, but I'm trying to take my time and savor the read!

What's Up People? Oooo you all that have to deal with all that snow, and super cold, oh my. Today here it did get very cloudy and even a few sprinkles. The sprinkles were a surprise but not really "rain".

We had a wonderful T'giving and the drive to and fro was pretty smooth. So nice to be with his family - we see mine all year, but his is just at T'giving.

Oh so much going on here, started the fodder up again this morning (the wheat/barley grass) for the chickens. Was such a success last year.

Did a bunch of online shopping knocking out about 80% of it! Whoop. Free shipping too! I have to finish up the final list and will hopefully finish on Friday. Have to wait til Friday to go for my shopping day due to rx restrictions (they can't fill one of them any sooner than the 30 days).

Newest kitten Woody is my bud now. He just loves me something fierce. We golf together now (two golf balls that came with the place), oh he loves to chase those. I step onto the porch, call him, he bounds up out of the woodpile, runs as fast as his little legs will go up the stairs to me.

We had some of our corn that I froze on the cob with dinner last night. DH said please honey no more turkey, so I did food saver the rest (ham too) and froze it. Made pork chops and the corn was okay, on the cob, but sort of rubbery? But it's still good, just not like the commercial frozen cobs in texture.

Our pickles get better every time we open the jar! Oh they are so delicious.

Been working on a big project, won't go into it here, but lots of details, and I think I'm about done so that's kind of nice.

Re-organized the "spare" ha ha ha bedroom (we only have 2 br if you recall, calling it spare is quite funny) using the new shelving units - oh is that ever nice now!

I had started some Micro Tom tomatoes right when I was mentioning them to either MGM or GMB, and there are some ready to pick! They always do so good under grow lights. I have six dixie cups (6 plants). Fresh small maters anytime!

    brendafawn what's up with you????????

Thanks for your well wishes, have had blessed relief for a few days. Starting to make plans to take over the world again........... :)

Well, happy December to all of you, welcome use less by the way!

Today we warmed up a bit. The temperature range was 9-23 degrees. It is now 4:30 here and the thermometer is dropping fast - down to 18 already. But tomorrow s/b warmer. Went to town this am with DH - he had a doctor appt. So I picked up a few groceries. The big news is that I got Xmas shopping done for our youngest GS who is 3 1/2 going on 7. I found several storybooks with CDs to read along with at the dollar store. Also got a big floor puzzle with animals (he loves animals) at the local toy store.

Bad news is that after we got home. DH says I think I am getting sick and went to bed. I did get the feeding done and water troughs filled before dark. Also hauled more pellets to the barn and cabin. I swear those 40 pound bags are getting heavier.

DH requested that I finish the second sock that I have been working on before I start on my mittens. The problem is that he wears size 14 shoes. It just takes forever to knit the foot. And I get bored! :thumb:

I will be thrilled with warmer temps - so I can get out for a walk. Susan

Back at work tonight and tomorrow night. I worked yesterday in the shop on the log baby changing table. Got a bunch of small things done, so it should all come together fast! (FAMOUS LAST WORDS) Last night and today, the wife fired up her new kiln, so no shop work gets done, as there can be no dust. I seemed to have more of a HOARSE cough today, so I layed low. Drinking plenty of hot liquids and soups. The wife has this cold now. It is in the 70's during the day and 50's at night. We have a string of days like this. The bees are starting to come back out. I hope I don't have to mow grass, though the yard is COVERED in leaves. You all stay warm if you can.

Not much going on ,hubby was in bed most of the day not feeling well,I am suffering from horrible sinus problems and ear pain.I think a lot of it is the weather. It was pretty icy this morning.Made a batch of gluten free fruitcake bites ( made up my own recipe),they are wonderful..Tomorrow I'll be making several batches of Gf cookies for a fundraiser for our home makers club.
Would like to ask for prayer for our daughter.she has RA and developed big time problems with her lungs (never smoked) .Anyway after doctoring for month with 3 specialists she will have to have that test done forgatten what it's called but they go into her lungs and do a biopsy. So this mom is pretty stressed out, even so I know God is in control.Test is next Wednesday.

As I used to tell my children when they were babies- "Home again, home again, my gray mare!" Long days drive from Chucktown, lots of rain along the way. GFB was jazzed up. He has worked very hard to NOT be anxious- the past 30 years of work history had taught him that going away on vacation meant your plants/lawn died and not only was your undone work still waiting for you when you got back, but also all the new work that had accrued while he was gone. This vacation occurred during a lull in his work schedule. He told me that he is taking his promise to do more travelling with me seriously. I admit it was really nice travelling with him and not just cause he does all the driving! In our early relationship we spent a lot of time driving around. We'de pass a road, say "That looks interesting" and turn around and drive down down it. Then there was the night our whole group of friends got curious about Perry, FL. It used to be mentioned on all the distance signs in Central FL- 46 miles to Perry, 33 miles to Perry. We never could find out WHY anyone would want to go there and decided to go see Perry for ourselves. At that time it was a wide place in the road, not even a stoplight. We decided that the guy in charge of road signs must live in Perry and that was why there was so much information on distance to Perry out there.

Travis, my stepfather SWORE by blackberry brandy for colds. I swear by elderberry. DSIL finally admitted he had finally tried some of the elderberry I left him last winter and it works. So now everyone at DD's takes elderberry when they get cold/flu symptoms.
Michelle, GFB's name isn't Bob! That's just what my cellphone auto corrects GFB to- unless it autocorrects to BBS. Sometimes it's amusing. GFB hastried to look up Girl Genius a couple times on his cell ( steampunk webcomic) and it autocorrects to Hitler. That's not even close!
When we were setting up the kitties Sunday night at the North Chucktown LaQuinta- which my cell wants to autocorrect to La Quinoa- Yuki, the one who doesn't know he's a cat, stepped out of his carrier and just cried! He sounded like a young child whose heart had been broken. Yuki and Angel were both ready to be back home. They went back to their pre- calming pheromone behavior of insisting that home was behind the door. (Which door? Any door) We had to open the bathroom and closet doors a couple times and crack the room door to outside cautiously. GFB thinks they think that home will be behind some door, somewhere. Roadkill actually stayed his goofy self. He'll be happy anywhere as long as he has GFB.
Too tired to get juice or milk. We had a little lemon juice left and GFB made lemonade to go with the local fast food fried chicken. Been fighting off an asthma attack all day- am going o take my meds and go to bed!
Edited to add- Oma to 3- bronchoscopy? Many don't realize that RA can affect the heart, lungs, and eyes. Prayers said for your dd.

    Oma, prayers sent.
GMB, your poor kitties must be so thrilled to be home!
Travis, I'll second the elderberry tincture - it's worked at our house since we started using it this year.
Homesteader, mmm, those tomatoes look so good. My "house tomatoes" are not happy at all this year.
Susan, size 14? I thought my xh's size 13s were oversized! Goodness.

Tweaked my back moving buckets today, so cutting wood was put on hold. :( Really hope that I am feeling better tomorrow, as I really, really need to get more wood in the shed. It's been so cold already this year that I've been burning a lot more wood than I usually do by this time of year.

I have managed to clean house and start decorating - the tree is up, if not decorated. Abby wanted to make fudge together, so we have a batch of peanut butter Fantasy fudge cooking now, and I think we'll make some chocolate and mint chocolate fudge, too. She's also been making chicken soup a lot lately - yesterday was chicken noodle, today will be chicken and rice, using either basmati or jasmine rice.

We have chicks in the house now - Momma hen had lost 3 of her 6 Thanksgiving Day chicks and 2 of those were chilled. It's just too cold to raise chicks outside with a momma hen. After being in next to the fire a while, they all perked up and had something to eat and drink. I think they are finally asleep. They were terribly noisy, probably looking for Momma.

I've taken Robaxin, so I expect I might be done for the day - makes me a little sleepy, but the Flexoril and ibuprofen just didn't cut it today.

Oma - added your daughter and you to my prayer list.
MGM - I have some chronic back issues. Have you ever read Egoscue book, PAIN FREE. If I do the back exercises faithfully, no back pain.

Yesterday I was a little down, this AM, I feel a little more perky. No good idea why. Same AM pattern: Porky the cat likes to get me up by 630AM. On Wednesdays I would sleep in a little since I work until 9PM on Tuesday. I have my coffee & the paper. During the day yesterday I had trouble resisting snacks and sugary stuff, but I'm resolved that I'm not doing that today. My brother has taken a job in FL. To quote him, his wife is being difficult. She doesn't go out to work, spends lots of social time with her family members, and is a big spender. I feel sorry for him. He is already carrying a ton without "difficulties". He tends to follow the strong & silent pattern, too, instead of complaining or blowing off steam in some appropriate way. His making a decision makes some things feel easier for me than not knowing if/when/where. Finishing cleaning out this house and making repairs he had ideas of doing will fall to me, but I know I'll be doing it or hiring it. Dealing with the sister who wants to cherry-pick the place over and over, like there's anything left she couldn't buy at a yard sale??, also unfortunately probably falls to me. I don't need to wait for my turn on his priority list, though. My dh sends random e-mails, a number of days nothing, then a handful. Like yesterday. One about the cat. We share custody: don't ask. Another about a shopping trip: do I need anything? Then one about removing something insignificant from the house. My old business cards. I can pick them up from the outside message box. Say what?? Likely they will get damp (and I'll toss). Luckily enough they aren't particularly current. Ah, well. Breakfast.

Not much to report. Havent done any packing today yet. Will definitely get more serious once the keys are given over. That happens tonight. I am really wanting to cook now! Looking forward to my gas stove. Gonna fire roast some peppers! I'm thinking friday will be tgiv for us! Turkey is in the fridge thawing.
