This was so much fun! The four patterns are included in my package. Tall Pines, you don't have to send any patterns to me! LOL Yankee |
evening all - I am hoping to take part but am holding off for another day or so to make sure I can make it work - so far I have found gummy bears, and chilli peppers that I don't think I can see on anyone else's list. i have found lots of others but not ones that are gravity assisted. Someone has potato chips on their list - is that crisps (come in a bag) or chips (come with fish)? I have found potato crisps but I think it might be a duplicate.

Welcome! I think most of us regard Potato Chips and "crisps" from a bag. I'm not completely sure but I think "chips" that come with fish, are more like Frecnh Fries. Here in Wisconsin---all the Fish dinners come with the French Fries----although a Baked Potato might be an option :) The "gravity" rule is a recommendation but not a requirement. :baby04: In fact, I'm almost embarrassed to tell, but TWO of my fabrics do not respect the rule of gravity-----well, one almost does, but the one with 'screws' pretty much has then "floating". |

According to my computer clock you posted this message at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, yet you said "Good Evening"! Now, I already know where you are located. Are you going to share that bit of information with the rest of the ladies? |

Honestly, I think a few of us are addicted to fabric!!! :nono: Is that possible??? :1pig: Or do we just hog it all up???? The fun is in the hunt....... Lol! I cannot wait to see all the different fabric! I think I found my shelf fabric too.... brown with a nice woodgrain.... |
I got an e-mail today saying my fabric has been shipped. I wonder how long the USPS needs to transport 6 yards of fabric 20 miles? :D

Nan - I'm impressed! So close - I am in Alderney which is about 25 miles North of Jersey and Guernsey. And a bit smaller LOL - only 3 and a half miles long and 1 and a half miles wide !

I have just phoned the fabric shop where I found my veggies - the lady does/has done jar quilts and says they are all a suitable size print but she is going to send me some samples today. Looking good :)
hoggie |
sorry to be a pain - could anyone who has already done their fabric give me an idea of what the parcel will weigh (just a rough idea) please ? Have just been on the phone to the post office and am trying to figure out how much the postage is going to be.
thanks hoggie |
Please count me in, too !

Your dragon flies sound great. Your cherries are not like the other Cherries we already have. We already have a couple of tomatoes, but as far as I'm concerned, the more tomatoes the better :) And the Pigs sound quite novel and interesting. So, it sounds as if you are all set :) You are expected to send in 3 different prints but can send more if you like. Let me know which ones you will be sending 'for sure' so I can add them to the list. |
ANNOUNCEMENT!
It seems that some of the ladies are sending more than just their 3 prints. Some are sending additional fabric and even patterns. Because these EXTRA's may or may not add significant weight to the SQUISHY and affect the postage ~~~~~~~~~ I'm asking that each of you send an extra $1.00 to cover this possible additional expense. Any money that is not needed for your own package, will be returned to you inside your Squishy.. |

My chips are potato chips that come in a bag. They are rippled Chips. I bought them at fabric.com if you wanna check it out. HTH! Rachel |
thanks - they sound the same, but its okay. I have found some now that no-one else seems to have. Will post them when I'm sure what I'm getting
hoggie |
Hooray, my fabric is here!
It looks very nice, except I have to make a correction -- it looked like dominoes in the photo, but it's really black & white dice. Works just as well. Now, I don't know why you'd put sushi in a jar on the pantry shelf (or even eat it for that matter, yuck) but it looks very colorful and makes as much sense as tallpines' floating screws. ;) I'm absolutely SWAMPED with work today so I probably won't get it washed and cut before next week. |
ANNOUNCEMENT!
It seems that some of the ladies are sending more than just their 3 prints. I will send an assortment of the prints I mentioned above. This is gonna be sooo much fun! |
Fabric is washed, dried, and pressed. I'll start cutting now :)
I will be sending it later this week. Rachel |

We need 30 6X10 pieces of EACH print. Are you sending 30 pieces of EACH of these prints? Dragonflies-tan background,Rust color "flies" Pigs on red background Bright red cherries on white red tomatoes on navy blue |
does anyone want gummy bears and/or cigars? I have them both sitting here and would not mind at all including them if anyone wants them - but if one person wants them you all have to take them, LOL. I know someone else had mentioned gummy bears, but I don't see it on the list - so let me know.
The other fabric is now cut and in the envelope. |
ok, finally have the other two materials!
Strawberries Mixed Citrus Fruit I almost got bread (and I may yet!) but stuck with these now. woohoooo ready to cut some fabric soon! (after washing of course!) |
I'm going tomorrow to see if there is anything left that ya'll haven't chosen! LOL! I am sure I can figure something out! I've been known to get creative a time or three! :hobbyhors
|
It's getting tough out there! I almost got a zucchini fabric and then there was a cabbage.... but I just fell in love with the strawberries and citrus! Wanted just lemons, but couldnt find them.
|
Quote:
I would like a piece of each of those, please. :) |
RockyGlen, I think I would like one of those also...
Well, think I should just go ahead and buy that zucchini material or bread material I liked,,, just to throw in |
I would like to sign up. Is it too late?

There's lots of reading to do to catch up :) Both this thread and the "discussion thread: http://homesteadingtoday.com/showthr...1&page=1&pp=30 Essentially you need to find 3 different fabric prints of something that might be realisticly found in a jar.....trying to NOT duplicate those that are already on the "list". The list is quite extensive so its becoming a chalenge to find something different. It takes 1 1/2 yards of each fabric to get the 30 pieces of 6X10 inch squares that we are swapping. (times 3 prints = 90 pieces) Let us know what print designs you are able to find so we can add them to the "list" :hobbyhors P.M. me your name, address, phone# and email) |
Quick question --
I know that the swaps rules state that, when washing fabric, we're not allowed to use fabric softener. This time of year, however, I really prefer to use it -- without it, static electricity is so bad that I feel like I'd practically electrocute myself working with this fabric. I have "All" softener sheets that are fragrance free, hypoallergenic, because my DH and DS have sensitive skin. Can I use this? If not, I'll certainly abide by the rules. |
Quote:
Anyone have any objections? |
It doesn't make any difference to me about the fabric softener or not...... :baby04:
I am going to Hancock's and JoAnn's today and see if I can find something!!! Wish me blessings! Will let you all know what I find! I am prepared with a fist full of coupons and my daughter to use them with me! :hobbyhors If I can grab one of her friends to also use one....we will be in like flin.....LOL! |
