Please include a note regarding this when you mail--just to remind this old lady of this conversation :)

I also sent some extra pieces since I had cut them so there will definitely be enough. My order for the broccoli material was just under $3.00 short of a min. that would have ended with me paying an extra $3 fee so I ordered a 1/4 yd of kiwis. I cut them and sent 3 (I think) so you may use them for Prairiegirl if you need to.

Oh, btw, :banana02:  mine went in the mail today  :banana02: . I am not in the room where the confirmation # is so I will try to put it in tomorrow.

.

Thank you for your offer.
We, actually, have lots of "extra" so everyone will get the correct volume of fabric.
The idea is more that evryone can have a sample of each print.

mamajohnson 04/04/07 09:45 AM

Tallpines, I will be happy to take smaller pieces if you need someone to. I intend to have several size jars, not all 'uniform' looking, but more of a hodge-podge quilt (like my shelf!)
I know you said there was plenty, but just so you know, I can take half pieces, no problem.

RockyGlen 04/04/07 10:14 AM

I can also take a smaller peice, or a little less fabric. I'm not picky!

tallpines 04/04/07 11:46 AM

Thank you, ladies~~~~~

So---Prariegirl----there's no need to make an extra trp to town.
Send me what you have and we'll get it worked out :)

tallpines 04/04/07 12:27 PM

Caroline~
Your squishy must be on the "horse and buggy" path!

I wonder why its taking so long to get here.
I'm guessing it will be here today :)

You are all so very kind...........just what one would expect from quilt swappers. I'm so honored to be apart of the jar swap. I appreciate all the offers to cover my shortage, but there's no need. I have the fabric and it's in the dryer. Yippee! 4 more to cut and I can send my squishy to Tallpines. I have a couple of extra pieces to include so sounds like there will plenty of suprises for everyone.

prairiegirl...........who's shivering here in N.Indiana where winter has snuck back for a few days. Yep, cold, blustery winds and snow flurries.

tallpines 04/05/07 12:27 AM

Caroline---------
Still not here

Prairie-----glad you found more of your fabric-----with my luck, the bolt would have been empty.

Several years back I attended a "Quilt in a Day" class with a dozen other ladies.
One of them ran short of fabric and was just sick about it as it was something she had in her stash for a couple of years. To try to fit a similar print to fit in just wasn't working out very well.

I kept telling her, I thought I maybe had some of that same fabric in my stash. She was very doubtful that it would be an exact match.

Guess what----it was the EXACT same stuff and she was able to finish her quilt with great satisfaction.

I made a new friend that day :)

rjayne 04/05/07 12:18 PM

I didn't have any luck finding what I was looking for while I was in the neighboring towns :(
I didn't even find any jar quilt kind of material, and when I asked at the shops if they had any, they all told me that they had never even heard of a "jar quilt" I'm glad I bought what I did when I did. So......Mine will be in the mail the next time I go to town and the post office is open.

tallpines 04/05/07 11:32 PM

"lsulenes" fabric arrived today.

Still haven't gotten Caroline's! :flame:
And still no update on the tracking number other than it left Kansas City on 3-31

caroline00 04/06/07 02:57 PM

I talked to my post office today. She says you should have gotten it yesterday but the confirmation is delivery confirmation and doesnt have to be scanned by anyone until they scan at the mailbox it is being put in.

Honestly, the only time I use priority is in the swaps because it is required. My mother left a cosmetics case at my house once and it had toiletries and meds in. I sent it priority because she is in her 80s and I had her meds...

It took 15 working days to get to CA from MO. Reg mail is generally 3-4 days. They xrayed it before putting it on the plane and found cuticle scissors and a metal nail file and they stamped it as not airworthy... apparently they made it walk to CA.

At that time, I was told that there was no guarantee that it would get therer quicker... it is just usually the way it works out...

tallpines 04/06/07 04:04 PM

"Your item was processed and left our KANSAS CITY, KS 66106 facility on March 31, 2007. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later."

Nothing today, either! :flame:

Caroline,
How did you fasten your labels?

Now that you've mentioned the x-ray showing cuticle scissors on a different package, I'm wondering if you used Stick Pins.............and I wonder if someone got STUCK?

We usually have very good mail service on our end--------my DH is a mail carrier and he is bewildered over the length of time your package is taking!

tallpines 04/06/07 04:16 PM

I spoke with Derek at USPS Customer Servive.
He says Priority Mail is no guarantee for faster service :help: .

He says if it has not arrived by April 14, I should call again and they will attempt to trace it.

:bash: :badmood:

caroline00 04/06/07 04:17 PM

hmmm...I think I did use straight pins... or stapled... I fastened my labels with sticky labels

caroline00 04/06/07 04:23 PM

we dont have good mail service!
But it got out of our area ok...

I bought a first class stamp today and the postmistress had to look up how much a reg stamp was....

Now that is bad!

tallpines 04/07/07 01:13 PM

Caroline's package arrived! :hobbyhors

HOWEVER :flame:
It was all wrapped up and sealed in a clear cellophane type wrap with 2 stickers on it saying it was damaged in transit---Apologies from the USPS.

It smells VERY STRONG to a heavy duty Pinesol type of cleaning solution.

I'm wondering if another parcel broke, spilling this Pinesol type cleaner on the package. Or, perhaps, it was soiled with something else, and the post office attempted to clean it with a Pinesol kind of substance.

Anyway---its here.
The fabric LOOKS to be fine (by the way, very nice selection of prints :) )------but everything, including the fabric has this strong smell.

It's got me sneezing!

I considered tossing it into my washing machine, but, then I thought about all the threads that would fray from the raw edges.
For now, I'm just going to let it air out.

If it still smells quite strong when its time for mailing, I may put each bundle into a plastic sandwich bag before mailing it out, so the smell doesn't filtrate into the other fabrics. Then you can each rinse out your own pieces if you find the odor troubling.

tallpines 04/07/07 04:08 PM

18 packages are here
0 in the mail
9 more out there

caroline00 04/07/07 07:30 PM

oh my! It makes me wonder what happened...
It didnt smell like anything other than maybe tide/no fabric softener when I mailed it...

Sorry about it all. Hopefully, when we all get it, it will wash out.... was there money in the package? was there an unstamped envelope in it?

tallpines 04/07/07 08:34 PM

Yes.
The package itself seemed to be intact....except there was an extra plain square white label type sticker on the front of it.
The outer package seems extra wrinkled and scuffed up.

There was an extra piece of scotch tape at each corner and at first I thought someone had opened it and re-sealed it, but the tape was just at the corners, so perhaps you added that.

As wrinkled as the outer package seems to be, I expected the fabric to be wrinkled or maybe even wet. But, except fot the strong PineSol type smell the fabric looks great.

The inner envelpoe and $8.oo-----and extra fabric pieces all seem to be as they should be.

Jaclynne 04/07/07 08:54 PM

tallpines - may I suggest something for the strong pine smell? In another exchange I got a package of fabric with a very strong cigarette smell. I couldn't wash it because of the fraying thing, so I hung it outside. A full day and night on a line I strung up on the porch, so it'd be outta the weather/sun. That fabric smelled fresh washed when I brought it in! It might work this problem too.

Good suggestion!
I thought about hanging it on the line but the weather has been wet and unpredictable.
It never occurred to me to string a line on the covered porch----I'll do that!

Karen 04/08/07 01:43 AM

Is it just me or does it seem like the higher the postage goes the worst the service and care they take?

I can't believe postage is going to go up again. You'd think with Ebay and so many people shopping online, the post office would be making a fortune!

COSunflower 04/08/07 11:22 PM

Gosh, I'd better get my rear in gear! :) Got Easter with company over...got over my head cold finally (which came AFTER the chest cold) so - the fabric is my PRIORITY now!!! :) I'm trying to hurry!!!

Okay, I'm running my labels. I hope to get to the post office tomorrow or the Tuesday at the latest.

Halo

rjayne 04/09/07 07:45 AM

Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a good Easter weekend.

This afternoon I will be mailing my package. I probably won't have time to post the #'s until tomorrow morning tho, unless I have time at work, and a free computer to do the posting.

Have a great day.

rjayne

prairiegirl 04/09/07 09:22 AM

Good morning everyone.

I'm headed to the post office today. I'll let you know my delivery confirmation later today.

prairiegirl 04/09/07 12:51 PM

I'm back from town and I have good news. My squishy is on it's way to Tallpines.
Yippee!!! I sent it with a prayer that it arrives quickly and intact.

I was kinda working on some drawings and plans for my jar quilt, but put it on hold. I think I have my sewing/swap commitments done so I'm anxious to get back to the "dreaming" part of the quilt. I have a place in my kitchen that is just calling for a jar quilt. We're working on an old farmhouse and this particular spot has been difficult to decorate/hide. When I saw the very first thread on doing a jar quilt swap I knew that would be the answer for making this area our own. So, my plans call for a floor to ceiling jar quilt. It led me to thinking that a wall I would love to have a window would could be home to a window quilt. I have the ideas - I just need the time.

Ooops! I almost forgot the confirmation number. 0306 3030 0003 0192 9263

sancraft 04/09/07 10:24 PM

Hi ladies. I finally bought a third fabric. I only have one fabric cut, but will get the rest cut by the weekend.

tallpines 04/10/07 09:46 AM

Good for you, Sandy!

Are you going to tell us about your third fabric?

Bugs, jelly, peanut butter?

Billie in MO 04/10/07 01:04 PM

Finally, my squishy is in the mail!!! Just came from mailing it. I put everything in a plastic bag and put an address label on the plastic, just in case something happens. Stamps are on the return squishy, plus a filled out delivery confirmation receipt and put a few extra dollars in a card.

Caroline00's mouse pattern and cat fabric are in an envelope marked with her name. Yesterday I found another print with kitties about 2" apart so I got a bit of it and put a piece in. So she will have a choice on what to use.

tallpines, there is also a little gift in there for you that I made. Hopefully, you can find a spot in the kitchen for it!

I have two "cabinet's" made now, one large and one on the med/small side. Just waiting for the jars to fill them! And like "prairiegirl" I am considering a wall quilt. One 'wall' in the dining room is actually just windows, which you can then see straight into an added sunroom. The top two windows have been replaced with new ones when we had the rest of the house done. I wanted the bottom ones out and then have drywall put in place, so I could have 2 walls and not one. Well, the bad windows are still there (6 yrs later) and the wall all tore up and you see all this when you walk in the front door. I have my 2 freezers out in the sunroom plus the backs of some furniture and it just doesn't look so nice and quite frankly, after 6 years I'm just plain tired of waiting for Bill to put up the drywall. So a wall quilt would hide it all.

Confirmation # is: 0303 3430 0000 2808 5418

tallpines 04/10/07 03:09 PM

2 in the mail
7 more are out there

RockyGlen 04/11/07 08:14 AM

In designing my quilt, I have found patterns for a teapot, sitting cat, and a flower pot with a flower in it. I also found a stylized fruit bowl with a bunch of grapes in it (the fruit bowl looks like an upside down triangle). These are all paper peiceing patterns. If anyone is interested, I can scan them and upload them to photobucket, then post them here or email them.

RedHairedBonnie 04/11/07 09:58 AM

RockyGlen, I'd be interested in those patterns. Thanks

mamajohnson 04/11/07 10:46 AM

Rockyglen I would be interested as well! Especially in the teapot!
thnx so much!

RockyGlen 04/11/07 10:48 AM

OK, someone needs to tell me how to do this. I know how to email them. Are we allowed to post pictures here? Can you pm a picture? I guess I can just put them on photobucket and post a link? Will work on scanning them this afternoon.

RockyGlen 04/11/07 02:39 PM

I think this link will take you to the whole album - if not, I will try again.

As you will see, the cat, teapot, and flower pot are part of larger blocks. Just cut off the books on the edges, and use a copy machine to enlarge the wanted pattern parts. If you need help, I will try to be clearer, but I am assuming if you print the patterns you know how to paper peice?
