10lbs of Michigan Blueberries!!!
13 pints
12 1/2 pints.

Kroger!
1 gallon Ice Mt. Water, .49 each when you buy 10
Kroger brand toilet paper, 16 double rolls, 4.99

When my son and his friend helped me unload the van, his friend said "um, that's a lot of water" and my boy says "Zombie Apocalypse bro!"
Too cute.

Mmmmm .. blueberries .... (where is the drool smilie! LOL)

At $4.00 per # here I don't think I'll be doing any blueberries this year. :(

But ... I've re-located my blueberry plants and am praying that they actually produce next year. They'er doing 100% better since I moved/replanted them!

I just love looking at the things people have canned! And what I've canned! Although I must admit I haven't done much recently. Shame on me :ashamed:

And LOL @ Zombie Appocolypse! I bet his friend got a good chuckle out of that!

Beautiful! Great buys on the water and TP. I found water for .69 cents and TP for $5/24 regular size rolls but you beat my deals :)

Bing cherries went on sale here and I bought 10 pounds at $2 a pound. Might seem pricey to some but the regular price is $5 a pound here and they were large and super sweet. I frozen some and canned some and well... ate more than I should fresh, lol. My blueberry bushes are doing well but I still bought some pints I found for 98 cents to add to the freezer for winter muffins and pancakes.

Yup, all the B.Berry farms around here have their "you pick" signs out. My bushes are covered protecting them from the birds. Sadly those you picks probably will lack customers as it has the potential to go to 106 degrees here today.

Thanks for the post. I had to go right by Kroger last night so dropped in for some water. They had a few other nice sales, too.

Do you happen to know the 'going rate' for blueberries up there?
I paid about 3.00 a pound.

Wow y'all. Blue berries here sell for almost $5. For a small container. Maybe 2 cups worth of "fresh" berries. Frozen are a bit cheaper but not by much.

WOW!!! Very pretty!

Common Tator 07/17/12 09:00 PM

I love the blueberries! Did you just can the berries or make jam?

julieq 07/17/12 09:25 PM

Lovely! I grabbed some blueberry/berry frozen mix at Costco and did berry jam over the weekend. But I'd LOVE to be able to find a bulk buy on fresh blueberries. Good for you!

U-Picks in Idaho -> Where in Idaho to find pick your own farms and orchards for fruit, vegetables, pumpkins and canning & freezing instructions!

Fred meyer price for cherries here is 1.68 this week but I got mine 2 weeks ago at like 1.78 --I get 24 pounds of blueberry at fred's last week all canned up price 5 for 2 pounds it was not the best deal and the price might drop (as the cherries did this year--but I was too cheap a few years ago I learned to be willing to grab produce at a good price vs not having any)

julieq 07/18/12 07:59 AM

Thanks Olivehill! Unfortunately there aren't any in our county. The closest are over two hours away.

TheMartianChick 07/18/12 08:13 AM

I'm so jealous of the cherry prices that have been reported on this thread. We just paid $3.99 for some "on sale" at the grocery store. I certainly won't be canning any at those prices. I haven't seen the big flats of them at the farmer's market this year.

suitcase_sally 07/18/12 02:08 PM

You're a brave woman, Laura. All those blueberry jars sitting on that white towel, brave I say!

Berry prices are $1.95/lb around here.

That's not bad....
3.00 a pound here in Indiana.....so the extra 1.00 pays for the gas!
I'm not feeling too bad about that price per pound any more!!
You made my day!!

my3boys 07/18/12 04:02 PM

Last week I bought a 20lb box for $36. Not too bad compared to what they are priced at elsewhere. Most went in the freezer but I also canned some jam and made a pie.

On to peaches and apples!

ladybug 07/22/12 01:32 PM

Awesome job, I'm jealous :D

Groene Pionier 07/22/12 03:28 PM

Just look at that pretty colour! I love the colours of different fruits. I have been amazed by the apricot jam and plum jam I made, the colours:)

WOW thats a deal! $5.99 a pound here on sale!

alpacaspinner 07/22/12 04:25 PM

Spent a bit of time at the blueberry u-pick farm a few days ago - $1.20/pound. Got 7 freezer containers in the freezer now, and may just go out to get some more in a few days. Got plenty of jam on the shelves, but no blueberry jam; should probably add a few jars.

kasilofhome 07/22/12 06:35 PM
