Nasturtium flowers are very peppery tasting. They could probably be dried and ground as a pepper substitute.....

Jerusalem Artichoke- leaves/stems/flowers can be used for animal fodder and tubers can be eaten. Perennial plant that can be highly invasive (i.e. does well in bad soil).

Yacon- Super yummy tubers (cross between celery and apple taste). Does great in tropical environments but I got it to flower in PA (raised bed and stacked tires).

Anyone ever heard of poke Sally?

When I growing up my mother use to pick what she called poke Sally, my dad called it pokeweed and swore it was poisonous, but mother said you had to know how to pick it and cook it.She always picked the the first shoots, once berry appear it's deadly she'd say, then she'd boil them pour off the water as it was toxic and rise it and fry bacon and onion and add them to that and cook .My dad was convinced she'd be poisoned one day from the plant and wouldn't let me eat it nor would he touch it but she ate it every spring of her life.

Are you allowed to post words like that here? I posted something a good deal less explicit than that, and got a formal warning for it.

I have grapes (one concord vine, the other an unknown white variety), pears, cherries, onions, rosemary, walking onions, chives, and mints.

I'm planning soon to add aparagus, and blueberries, and maybe sweet potatoes.

Regarding Poke, the greens are edible when the plant is young - while they're still actually green. The berries, and the mature plant are poisonous (birds like them though).

no intent to be uncivil. When you type on the IPAD your doing a best gues on every word. Once you hit the submit button...there is not editing the title.

so if any moderator is trolling here today, please correct my misspelling in the original post title.

thanks
