I saw a news story relating to this the other day, and when we went to the grocery store this week the PB shelves were nearly bare. I think running out of PB would be the only thing that would drive my DH over the edge. :P He's addicted to the stuff. (Not that I have any room to talk...)

What do you guys think of the JIF natural PB? It's the closest thing to homemade I can get DH to eat. I like it, but I wonder if it's as "pure" as it claims to be...

We like the Smucker's Natural. Even DD (my sugar/candy eater) is really happy when I open a jar of the natural instead of the sugar filled ones. She says the natural (it's just peanuts and salt) tastes like peanut butter should.....guess I need to head out and buy some. We are rather low.

I've bought the organic, no preservatives etc. pb and dh wants Jif and only Jif! I like just the plain peanut butter. Oh well, he's got enough to last awhile!

To me any pb with sugar or added oils in it is NASTY. After eating Smucker's for so long (just peanuts and salt) nothing else tastes right.

There's a little health food store where you can grind your own, but OUCH! They are EXPENSIVE!
Our grind your own is cheaper than the glass jars. And the fresher does taste better, too.

Oh, ladycat, thank you so much for sharing this info. DH is also addicted to pb. Next time I'm heading out, I'll stock up! BTW, he likes the JIF natural stuff, we don't live anywhere near a health food/bulk store, so that is what I get him.

We found that the store brand at save-a-lot tastes great. It is a 14 oz jar for 1.00 (in the 10 for $10 section) We bought 20, I think we need triple that! My 3 boys love PB.
