I could stand to lose a few pounds, but I am generally pretty active and can jog for extremely long periods of time. I have (very) low blood pressure and low cholesterol. My problem is that I have knee and back issues and my doctor frequently tells me to limit my exercise when they flare up. I hate to do that since jogging makes my back feel so much better and I LOVE getting a runner's high from a nice long jog! Since last summer, I have been unable to jog on a regular basis, but I'm trying to get back into it again. Everyone tells me that I should take up walking instead, but it just doesn't make me feel as good and I can't seem to lose weight that way. Probably because I'd end up going past Tim Horton's Donut Shop!

I am in great shape because I "have it all" : all the housework, all the property upkeep, all the animal care, all the barn chores . . . When I got a tetanus shot a few weeks ago, the nurse said, " Oooh, do you work out?" I said, "No, I just work."

I'm in generally poor shape. Day to day work wears me down.

That said, I seem to do well in emergencies. I guess I just don't think about it. Nothing like a "physical disagreement" to see if your body will still do what it used too.

I'm in great shape.. but probably polar opposite of InvalidId..better in a dash than a marathon for sure. :/ As long as I can get a quick break in between adrenaline rushes.. I'm good.

It wasn't just the running that wore you out...it was adrenaline that caused some of your "worn out" feeling as well. When you come down from an emergency it's much worse than if you had just been out jogging.

good golly no! I used to be fantastic. I ran, I jogged, I have a black belt and taught Tae Kwon Do for years and years. Now.....fibromyalgia and lots of old fractures that I ignored when I was breaking cemet with my hands and feet. (Seriously, I knew it hurt but never thought I had broken anything) 15 old fractures in my feet make it hard to run without it being an emergency. Adrenaline can get me to still do a lot of things like I used to but I sure pay later.

To the OP: Um, no...and it's gotta be fixed. I have this recurring fear (and I'm not a worrier) that it's teotwawki and my family and I are running for our lives and because I can't go fast they slow down to help me and are injured because of me. Okay, so fix it you say. Well, I'm still trying to find the best way to do that.

I'm in much better shape than I was a year ago, but still have a way to go before I am where I want to be.

I do no understand my physique at all. Mid forties 300 plus pounds. I see pictures of myself and I think there is no way that guy can work.

And yet I can work for hours in the hot sun and walk for miles behind a tiller. I can bend over and almost touch the palms of my hands to the floor.

Brute force strength still holding but the boys can outrun me now. They gotta sleep sometime. He,He.

I have been this weight for the better part of twenty years and it does not fluctuate by more than twenty pounds no matter what amount of activity I do.

No. Circulatory problems in lower limbs, ulcers, I can't move much not only because it hurts, but because friction would wipe the skin and flesh away and start new ulcers.

However... just a thought for you. There used to be a Japanese TV series called "The Samurai" - great action, terrible but spectacular special effects, absolutely abysmal dubbing. One thing, though - they'd run - for days. Just trotting, really - move the feet maybe eighteen inches, never lift them more than an inch or two. Probably not moving one foot more than about its own length past the other one, if that. Almost shuffling. VERY energy efficient, when you stop to think about it - not lifting big heavy clodhoppers up high and laying 'em down, not stretching out, but doing the minimum necessary to move forward.

Been in good enough shape to utilize and improvize to make it through every emergency that presented itself since I first moved out on my own about 30 years ago.
