I would want tomatoes. YUMMY!!!

green beans, peas, carrots, and corn come soon after.

Squash, strawberries, onions...Do I REALLY have to pick one?!?!?

I consider Sweet Potato my survival food...but my top 4 groups are:

#1 Sweet Potato

#2 Greens (turnip/mustard/collards/chard)

#3 Tomato

#4 Squash..all types..cucuzza, yellow, zuchini, winter etc

All the above are super easy to grow for us here...and do well even under less than perfect conditions. The tomatoes are the only ones that even need much care...

TOMATOES. You can't buy good ones except for the very pricey heirlooms a few weeks in summer. When I grow my own, I grow LOTS AND LOTS. And I can everything from sauce and whole tomatoes to catsup and salsa and tomato soup. I miss them terribly now that I have nowhere to grow anything.

Tomatoes. That's the first thing I can remember picking and eating right in the garden. I was probably 6. Also, it would be a real SHTF situation if DH didn't have his home canned salsa!!
