Last night on the news they stated that there is 3 States that are broke and cannot give out tax refunds. California, Michigan, and another state which I can't remember right at the moment. Said there is another 12 states which may soon be joinning them.
Just got my Michigan refund back on Wednesday. Glad I did mine early then. Was supposed to get my federal refund back yesterday tho and haven't seen that.
Reminds me, I need to go change my exemptions.

P.S. The home brew is Blueberry wine... Too good. I make it with the wild blueberries, Sugar, and yeast. Nice high Alcohol Content. No sulfides. No Clarifying agents. No matter how much one enjoys the evening. No hang over!
Yeah, I probably would take it. The way I see it, that is THEIR ridiculous tax system, not mine. I didn't set it up, so I don't see any problem with making sure I get the most back from the least put in.

There's been times I've been dirt poor. There's been times I've had plenty. I expect to be dirt poor again at least at some point in my life. The money isn't really mine anyway. It belongs to God. At best, I'm his steward for a portion of it.

In exchange for my tax dollars that you're extracting from the system, Stan, please post instructions and a recipe for that blueberry wine!

Wisconsin is another one that's broke. 5.2 billion deficit. ouchies. AND a very high income tax rate. AND one of the highest state taxes on fuel.

but we do have darn good roads. and no toll roads. (I Hate illinois...toll roads everywhere and lousy roads, to boot)

Anyway...We're hoping to actually get the money back from state taxes, but I"m not going to count on it for anything special.

I emailed our Governor and various legislators with my idea for making money for the state. 1)raise the fines for speeding and lower the number of points taken off the license; or 2)adopt a zero tolerance for speeding; or 3)both of the above Raising the state tax is more likely to happen tho.

I was raised in the Prarie du Chien area in SW WI. Taxes are high, to high. And from this ex-farmers point of view, where does the money go? Where does the lottery money go? Your idea of no tolerance for speeding is a poor one. It would never stop there, it would promote a nanny state mentality in the cops. Some have it already, I can't imagine a whole force having it.

Charlie Crist just did this in FL. I've not heard of a zero tolerance--though some would say we already have that but he raised the speeding fines quite a bit to supposedly help the budget. Our city is also installing cameras on the stop lights so they can send tickets in the mail to redlight runners. They won't be a traffic violation with points assessed but will be a "code violation". No state income taxes in FL though.
