Anyone remember me posting about TOPS in 2007

For those of you who remember me posting about joining TOPS back in 2007, I'm sorry I haven't kept you up to date.

I went on and reached my goal weight in Oct. of 2008. Any of you who belong to TOPS probably know about SRD and the King and Queen thing. Every year they chose the person who have lost the most weight since joining TOPS. Well one of my friend who I worked with back in Lufkin in the 1980s was Texas State Queen. She was told not to tell anyone until SRD. Well guess what I was runner-up Queen. I didn't tell her and she didn't tell me because we were told not to tell anyone.

The night before the crowning at SRD in April of 2009 we were lined up to walk across stage in a before and after parade. He last name starts with O, mine starts with M, so naturally we were standing together, neither one knowing the other was going to be crowned the next day. As we stood there our Area Coordinator ask us what we were doing together. We both looked at her and said that's the way we were seated. She said you don't know, do you? We said know what? She said, just a moment and left. Then came back with a guy. She said Pat, meet your King, and your runner up Queen. We started jumping up and down and we've had a ball ever since.

I have kept my weight off now 3 yrs. and am now the Area Captain for 13 other clubs in my area.

congrats on keeping the weight off. I just rejoined a couple weeks ago and my car is broken so haven't been able to go back.

Wow, congratulations! Your post really took me back. My grandmother belonged to TOPS on and off for many years and really enjoyed it. It's true that she belonged for many years because she never lost much but still. What a fun story. It's so neat that you were the runner up, I can tell that it means a lot to you. As it should, you did the work that not everyone is willing to do.

Jan, it is so neat your mother was a TOPS member, We have a couple members that have been there for years and are just as large as they were when they started. I think some members use it as a social club, and that is OK too. We look at it this way, just how large would they be if they didn't come. Either way it helps them to come. We have three members that will be reaching their goal weight this year.

Our leader has been in for several years. She only had about 50 lbs. to loose but it clicked with her this summer when she lost her mother. During the time when her mother was so ill she lost 10 lbs. Our weigh recorder told her she only had 10 more lbs to loose to reach her goal she said that clicked with her and she set a goal to reach that 10 lb. loss before Dec. 31. Well as of last Mon. night she only has 1 lb. left to loose and she will be a KOPS.

I accepted a position to be Area Captain. Not sure I'm really up to the job but will do my best.
