Diet Comparison
in this month's Consumer Reports, using US dietary guidelines.
Jenny Craig, Slim Fast, Weight Watchers, Zone, Ornish, Atkins and Nutrisystem.
Overall, Jenny Craig was the best with the rest lagging behind about 30 points. Volumetrics, the winner last year, is now part of JC so wasn't rated. Pretty expensive though.
Things that I found interesting was the low percentage of long term weight loss overall; Refined carbs might be as harmful as fat; that the calories per day range from 1,125 (slim-fast) to 1,915 (atkins). They ALL (except for Zone) recommend/encourage exercise and the article stated those who have support do better than those who go it alone.
Weight watchers has not yet published a clinical trial concerning a new points system regarding the most "filling" foods to keep away hunger pangs rather than just calorie counting. I'd be interested in this...
Just a little FYI for ya' all.
