City in Virginia Becomes First to Pass Anti-Drone Legislation

Charlottesville, Va., has become the first city in the United States to formally pass an anti-drone resolution.

The resolution, passed Monday, "calls on the United States Congress and the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia to adopt legislation prohibiting information obtained from the domestic use of drones from being introduced into a Federal or State court," and "pledges to abstain from similar uses with city-owned, leased, or borrowed drones."

The problem is the little flying objects are set up to KILL you. No court time necessary. No need for the constitution any more. Due process, what's that?

I wonder if the little things are edible . Perhaps there could be a season on them. Might taste like chicken.

I hope this happens nation wide. Go on youtube and check out the drone videos. It's the same as being a peeping tom or searching without a warrant.

I feel so much safer with them in the sky, knowing what my neighbors are up to. and what those kids that stand on my lawn do when they are not standing on my or someone elses lawn. It helps me sleep so much better at night knowing the government cares so much for my well being that they would spend such precious monetary resources on surveillance equipment to protect my property and I feel privledge to live in such a state of of of well no other way to say it except state of euphoria and warmth provided by my government.

Virginia House of Delegates & Senate Approve Two Year Moratorium

Virginia House of Delegates and Senate Approve Two Year Moratorium on Drones

The ACLU of Virginia applauded Virginia legislators as the House of Delegates and Senate today approved by overwhelming bi-partisan votes in both houses legislation that calls for a two year moratorium on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, by law enforcement and regulatory agencies in the Commonwealth.

"We are very pleased that Virginia is the first state in which both chambers of its legislature have approved measures that limit the use of drones," said Claire Guthrie Gastañaga, Executive Director of the ACLU of Virginia. "We are honored to be working with Delegate C. Todd Gilbert, Delegate Ben Cline, and Senator Donald McEachin, and we are grateful for their leadership on this precedent setting legislation. Virginia legislators are wise to anticipate the potential negative impact on civil liberties and privacy rights unfettered access to drone technology could have and to take the additional time needed to develop sensible and reasonable policies that balance the benefit of such technology with the privacy rights of Virginians. We hope that the Governor will agree with this approach and sign the legislation when it gets to his desk."

If they were serious, they wouldn't have to include "city owned drones" since they shouldn't even have them if they are that against them

It's very smart wording. You never know what will happen in the future when these guys are no longer in office.
