It's all ok.

Could someone please tell me it is all ok? The world will continue to orbit the sun. That same sun will rise in the east. My money will buy food and gas tomorrow.

Please, someone tell me everything is ok.

Scott

Ryan pretty much covered it.
We are given no promises.

But since all of those things are all out of your control, please focus on the things that are within your control.
Plan next year's garden.
Reorganize your basement to make room for more food storage.
Learn a new skill over the long, cold winter so that you will not feel unproductive
and out of control.
Do what you can within in your realm..

That was a much better answer than mine, chickenista. That's what I really meant.

The sun doesn't actually rise in the east, the earth rotates in an easterly direction, erroneously described as "from west to east" but since it does not pause, its not "from" anywhere.
However, to the uninitiated eye, the sun will indeed appear to rise from the east. It's just not so.

I survived my 2 week trip to Detroit without having to draw my weapon, and tomorrow I get to fly back home to California.

So I guess that it is, 'all good in the hood'!!!!!

I'll get up and make a peanut butter sandwich tomorrow, just like I did today.

Or, from a quantum point of view, tomorrow morning will get you up, and peanut butter sandwiches will need you to put them together. You got to think outside the box.

It's all okay. Your money will buy food and gas tomorrow - gas might even be cheaper tomorrow. There will be a ray of sunshine here and there - pray that it'll be closer to you rather than further. The sun will continue to go round and round unless someone else decides it goes up and down. Spring will come. Flowers will bloom. Breathe.

Why worry about what you have no control over. Do the best with what you have and with what you control, prepare for what you can and leave the rest up to God (or chance if you don't believe in God)

Zong, if I weren't married, I'd marry you simply for your intellect.

As to the OP's question. I'm hoping he's asking it tongue in cheek. Yes, the earth and the universe will continue to function normally even if we aren't here to observe it (Zong, don't you even *think* about it!!). Are things going to be ok tomorrow, or the next day? No one knows. Not even those who plot disasters for the rest of the world. I might live to be 100, I might die in my sleep choking on my own vomit (a very real possibility as I am quite nauseated right now) or get in a fatal car wreck or get hit by falling space debris. Don't know. I just keep living as if I will live to be 100, because I have no other options.

Wanted to add that the Lord is my savior, my lifeline, my ultimate refuge. If things fail here on earth, I have a refuge where I will be safe for eternity.

Did I miss something? Why wouldn't you be able to get gas and food tomorrow?

The worst thing you can think is - it can't happen here. So many people have thought that at different times in different places.

Sorry - it isn't all okay but you can only control what you can control and the better prepared you are the more able you are to handle what comes your way.

I can only add that faith in God can make everyday less burdensome (less, not without burdens). We aren't supposed to figure everything out. We aren't to be boobs either!

sure, the world will still keep turning, whether or not We remain on the world is a whole nother issue...

I've learned in my long 30 years of this life that you can't trust or depend on anyone but yourself, so prepare yourself and trust in your skills and if you don't have skills, then learn while there is still time.

Why do you ask, Scott? What really prompted the question? Some weeks I need to take a break from prepping and just be a sheeple. It gets to ya. Grinds on your nerves like too much Glenn Beck. You begin to see the devil behind every bush, & lose focus over what is really important: each new day of life, your family, your health, joy in small experiences. Sometimes I, too, just would like to hear someone say it's all gonna be okay even if I know it might be empty words. There has never in the history of man been a guarantee that it would all be easy and work out, though our lifespan has been some of the easiest mankind has ever lived. Many of us have trouble with having too much food (stored internally), not too little to eat. So, what really prompted the question?

I think there's just a lot of doom and gloom these days and it can freak people out sometimes. Tomorrow probably isn't really what he's asking about, but some other tomorrow a little further down the road.

Yeah, pretty much tongue in cheek. I had been reading Zero Hedge about the European financial mess. It gets me down reading about stuff I have no control over. My company is based in Switzerland and I hope Europe can hang together through the first couple of weeks in January. My payment for the retirement freeze will pay off my last credit card.

Everything else is going good. I am accumulating canned food as it comes on sale. Built a water filter out of buckets and have a Big Berkey to make sure. I increased my cash emergency fund in case there is banking system troubles. I have a couple of cans of gas I rotate through my vehicle so I can get out of town when the time comes.

It just would be nice to see a ray of sunshine in economic news once in a while.

Thanks for the clarification. I understand people getting overwhelmed, which is what the OP seems to be. I think what helps me is the serenity prayer. There's just some things we have no control over, so we make sure we do what we can and leave the rest up to God. I figure none of us is getting out of this life alive anyways, we all gotta go sometime.
