Soylent: one month living liquid nourishmen

Not sure if there are other things on the market like this but I thought this was an interesting article.... Between this and 3-d printers we won't have to grow food any more...not.

I wonder if they used this stuff in prisons if that would be enough to keep people out of them.

"When the Soylent mixture itself is finally delivered to your door, you’ll find long, white boxes with "Soylent" printed across the side, which means your low-tech neighbors will definitely suspect you’re eating people. Each box contains seven packets of powder — one per day — paired with seven bottles of a fish oil / canola oil blend. The bottles look like those travel-size shampoos you find at drug stores or in hotel rooms; they’re convenient, but they seem wasteful since you’re unscrewing one and throwing it away every single day. Making a full day’s batch is easy enough with the supplies included: dump a full packet into the pitcher, fill the rest with water, then add the oil and shake the mixture for 30 seconds. It’s actually quite a workout if you’re shaking vigorously, which you want to do to make sure all the powder gets blended in; failure to do so can result in big clumps of sludge stuck to the sides of the pitcher."

I seriously doubt people are busting down the gates to get into prison because the food is so great.... So I really don't think a change to this would keep more out... Matter a fact, I bet this would be an upgrade in food..

I saw the inventor of Soylent on The Colbert show, it was pretty funny. He got the idea when he was an investment banker and was "too busy to eat". It was pretty obvious that food and eating is not something pleasurable to this guy, but just a means to fuel your body. It did look like a healthy, balanced food substitute. Could be useful in some situations, but I definitely like flavor and texture with my food if possible.

I was thinking it to be more of a mental torture kind of thing. As the article states how food is not just nourishment to a lot of people but a social thing. Then whole texture taste thing. Having to drink this stuff for years...3 meals a day.

One of the main reasons I prep, so my family will never have to drink a mystery shake. Don't care how nutritious it is suppose to be. I want to see the nutrition on a plate

Ummmn, roadkill, been there done that. And no guilt feelings about how it died 'cause I/we didn't hit it.
