anyone prepping for a "zombie" apocalypse?

Just wondering if anyone is as particularly interested or as some say obsessed with the impending hordes of undead ----s as I am... if so what are your theories or do you have specific preps just for this kind of "end"?

I don't believe zombies are even possible, although we joke about it here on the board. I do prepare for pandemic and societal unrest and economic meltdown, as much as I can. To me, those scenarios are probably more likely than undead people roaming the countryside looking for victims.

Although, we do watch Walking Dead every week.

Lol as do I... I prep for the zombie apocalypse because if I'm prepared for undead flesh eating machines then I should be prepared for just about anything, and to me zombies are just plain fun...

I thought that "Zombie" was just a code word for unprepared people who suddenly realize that they are going to starve to death. Kind of like "Sheeple" . If a walking dead thing was even possible, It would quickly rot to a pile of mush quite quickly in this southern heat.

You can consider zombies heroin addicts and other drug addicts who need to prey on others to fuel their habits. There has been an uptick in heroin addiction, burglaries and robberies across the nation. I expect this trend to continue. The crimes are getting more and more brazen like this:
Police discovered that the suspects took a dump truck from a nearby business and a pay loader from a construction site in the area to use in the burglary.

I talked to a cop who said there have never been so many rural burglaries as now. Glastonbury is not rural, but a town like suburbia as an example of the craziness. I was growling about the crime and posted a bank robbery just before this one. Imagine bad times.

A lot of people have never had to do anything for themselves, the government has provided for them their entire lives.
When the crash comes and the government teat runs dry, they will turn to their only survival skills, theft, home invasion, arson, rape and murder.
When that happens, we better hope we haven't been disarmed by our "government" because it's going to be a few of us at a time defending from hordes of entitlement zombies, (EZs).

No Kidding. Our closest neighbor, about 2500 feet up the road, just had a combine stolen! Last year, someone stole DH's old 1976 Dodge Ram out of our pasture at the rental house right under the noses of our tenants. It's only going to get worse I'm afraid.

Yes they are stealing a lot of farm ATVs, generators, dirt bikes, veterinary stuff and tools breaking into barns and sheds They caught an ex-marine who had stolen a lot of guns and jewelry from houses in the East Lyme area with his brother.

I'm only prepping in my head, sadly. But I am learning a lot from the boards....

If only I could win the lottery and have a ton of money - I would SO be 'outta here'.....

Guess i need to buy a ticket, huh?

ETA: I have that book TOO!

Prepping for any disaster is prepping for zombies to some degree.

In April 2011 during the blackout those of us watching our immediate areas and patrolling via 2 way radio with the next watcher down and our county patrols after sundown curfew weren't just sitting on our porches or in the shadows around our properties with handheld radios and night vision scopes keeping an eye and ear out for things that went bump in the night over the idle of our generators.

Every time Fiancee brings home a new gun or knife he SWEARS it's for the "zombie defense system" and I just laugh and roll my eyes. Kind of like how every time I come up with a new idea for our little corner of land I tell him "what if something happens and we can't get down off of our hill for several days?" Our area was hit hard by storms last summer and we were without electricity for 6 days...not only were WE out of power, but the closest town with any power was 30-45 minutes away. It was in the 90s with high humidity and I myself would have happily given away everything in my garden just for a cold glass of water. So as much as he grumbles when I bring home chickens or get some apple trees for him to plant, he also knows that being able to hunker down at home is worth it. While watching TWD, we have had that whole "what if..." conversation. We have a hypothetical plan even though we know it can't happen.

Our local TV station was "hijacked" & announced that the living dead were out & you should avoid them. I am certain many freaked out around here.

I'd like to think that the Walking Dead type of Zombie is medically impossible, but what about someone who is so numbed by something traumatic that they no longer even view humans as being people? I guess that we could call them the Walking Wounded, but I think that a situation could arise where they exist. There are some places in the world where the children are used as soldiers and the they are as cold as ice when it comes to their view of other people. In a true shtf event, children would become something far more dangerous than a mindless zombie because they are still able to think...they just cannot "feel".

I got a big ole tater gun... Painted on the side is The "Dick"tater...

I can spud zombies from 75 yards away.. it'll rip a head right off a rotting corpse..

A can of Aquanet is good for a few thousand shots... Taters not needed either... a wad of news paper and a hand full of rocks or BB's, and you got one heck of a scatter gun...

Quiet too

I'm thinking a samurai sword is the way to go, never runs out of ammo and makes quick work out of the undead.
