giant cans of tuna...Ideas?

In rotating my preps, several humongous cans of tuna need to be used up in the next couple of months. I thought about making a large tuna casserole, some sandwiches and tuna pasta salad. I was wondering if anyone had any new ideas...
Thanks for any suggestions

Feed it to the cats...

Can you tell I'm not a big fan of tuna?

About the only way I can eat it is tuna burgers, which is probably the same as the patties that Patrice mentioned.

You can rinse it well under hot water to remove the oil, squeeze it nearly dry, then dehydrate it. It will have a shorter shelf life than jerky, but it makes a decent snack. I've done that with canned salmon and it was pretty good.

Keep in mind that the expiration date really doesn't mean you have to use it right away. I've had tuna for years past the expiration date and it was still fine since it's not acidic.

drain add mayo , mustard , and dried cranberries then enjoy on lots of sandwiched with a bit of lettuce and maybe a slice of tomato (but they are out of season right now)

we find adding dried fruit to sanwiches or even slices of pear gives it a sweet factor that makes a sanwich very good , usualy the meat has a salt factor the mayo gets the mouth juices flowing so adding a little sweet to the salt makes for a find sandwich

i also like tuna salad , this is cooked pasta shells or macorini work well , frozen pees put in the pasta water about a minute before you drain both , then add mayo , a little mustard or mustard powder , salt and pepper to taste a and some finely diced onion and celery, and if you like a few dried cranberries , chill and serve as a cold pasta salad great for potlucks or nights when you have a meeting or church to get to and need a quick meal.

I agree with Terri, feed it to the cats, that's the only thing canned tuna (or canned salmon) is good for.

I like it added to tomato sauce (instead of beef or sausage) over noodles. If you want to get crazy, also add some capers and/or peas. Yummy, and can be frozen easily.

Not sure what you mean when you say "giant," but this will get rid of 12 ounces or so at a shot. It's a recipe you may enjoy if you like spicy, super-flavorful foods.

Tuna Fish Subzi

Serves – 4

Ingredients:
Tuna – 2, 6oz cans (packed in water)
Oil – 1 Tbsp
Onions – 1 medium, chopped
Ginger – 1 Tbsp, minced
Garlic – 1 Tbsp, minced
Tomatoes – 2 medium, chopped
Green Chilli – to taste
Red Chili Powder – 1/2 tsp or to taste
Tandoori Masala – 1 tsp
Coriander Powder – 1/2 tsp
Cumin Powder – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
Salt – to taste
Cilantro – 15 sprigs, finely chopped
Lime/Lemon Juice – 1 Tbsp or to taste

1. Heat the Oil on medium flame in a wok-type pan.
2. Once hot, add in the Onions and allow them to get translucent.
3. Once done, add in the Ginger, Garlic and the Green Chillies.
4. Allow it to some more till the Onions get some color on them.
5. Reduce flame and add in the Turmeric Powder, Coriander Powder, Cumin Powder, Red Chili Powder and the Tandoori Masala.
6. Mix well and cook for 30-40 seconds.
7. Add in Tomatoes.
8. Add in the Tuna, which has been drained and squeezed. Open it up with a fork or fingers.
9. Mix and add salt.
10. Cover and cook for 5 min, allow the Tuna to get hot and the Tomatoes to soften up a bit.
11. Stir in between.
12. Add in the Cilantro and Lime/Lemon Juice and mix well.
13. Serve hot with Chapatis, Parathas or Nan.

Here's another recipe I use quite often:

Linguine with Tuna, Black Olives and Tomatoes

Serves 4-6

1 can (28 oz), whole, peeled tomatoes, drained
1/4 cup olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 12 oz can of tuna
6 TB pitted, chopped Kalamata olives
1 lb. linguine
3 TB chopped, fresh Italian parsley
Ground pepper to taste

Coarsely chop the tomatoes. Heat oil in a skillet until warm; add garlic and saute 1 minute. Ad tomatoes, tuna and black olives. Saute, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes. Try not to break up the tuna too much. Add salt to taste if needed.

Meanwhile, cook linguine in boiling salted water until al dente, about 6 minutes. Drain. Toss with the tuna sauce and sprinkle with freshly ground pepper.

Hope these help!

I too have giant cans of tuna! There's 3 other people and usually other family visits to help eat it when I open a can. If you get invited to those parties where you have to bring a dish then you're all set. We'll make tuna potato pancakes with corn, onion, garlic, jalapenos if we have leftover mashed potatoes. Tuna macaroni salad made with pasta, peas, mayo, black olives or anything you like with Italian salad dressing seasoning you can make yourself with garlic, pepper, etc. , cheese meat stuffed cherry peppers packed in seasoned oil mincing a little of that in goes a long way and makes the dish.

I do not like cooked tuna. We bought some big cans of it and made sandwiches. Since we have kids, they had sandwiches for after-school snacks.

Tuna
finely diced sweet onion
mayo
grated cheddar
sweet relish
hickory smoke salt

Makes a pretty good sandwich & it lasts in the fridge for a few days.

tuna instead of crab in crab salad/crab dip. and someone already said tuna patties

some dips and things can be frozen in case you're sick of tuna this week and can it next week.

We don't like "canned" anything; but the "packaged" tuna we enjoy fried. Just add some eggs and enough corn meal to make it on the dry side; then flap it into patties and fry on both sides. (I'm wondering if these patties could then be placed in baggies without air and frozen....hmmmmm....if so, would make a nice meal should the power go out and I cannot cook.)

Drain it well, then add your favorite BBQ sauce and serve on sandwich buns. I'm not kidding. When someone suggested this to me, I though they were nuts, but it works! Tastes like BBQ chicken sandwiches, almost.

Open,Drain,Remove Tuna,Toss Tuna, Eat can.

I don't care much for canned Tuna, not that I do not like canned fish. Just not Tuna or Mackerel.
I can eat it but not a preference.

You could make a Tuna Chowder. That I might eat.

But like Becka Suggests, you can skip the old mayo tuna salad and try some different stuff, maybe Italian dressing instead? Italian dressing is one of my go to secret Ingredients for a few things.

Tuna,Tomatoes, and Pasta with the Italian Dressing.
Served with bread sticks or Garlic Bread?
could add in a bit of sweet onion and roasted peppers, capers if you have them.

Wonder how tuna would work in something like a stuffed pepper or Golumpki (stuffed cabbage leafs) or Dolma (stuffed grape leaves)?

Now I got to make Some Golumpki...
