My new tomahawk arrived

I'll need to dress it up a mite, add a bigger handle (big hands) and modify the belt case, but at least I got it before some left coast lib or yankee bleeding heart starts a drive to ban them.

It wasn't all that long ago that some town (can't remember which) banned machetes. I guess guns were hard to come by after they were banned, so gang members used machetes to attack and kill people.

I don't think the machete ban helped much either. But anyway, wouldn't surprise me if someone did ban tomahawks! Glad you have yours, just in case.

Funny you should mention machete attack Elizabeth, we had one a few months ago, and I remember thinking "Huh?"

No, too elaborate for a simple homestead. For my little place I'd be more of a stinger or tow kind a guy.

It just occured to me, you might want to delete that post before your Mrs. sees it and thinks you're wanting to add to your military collection.

You're close Bearfoot. That looks like a poorly made cast piece. Mine is a Colt version, all steel for the handle and the beard on the blade is pronounce enough to make it useful. I'm going to modify it, fit it with an oak or hickory handle, using the metal handle as a big tang. Should be forever more solid and add more heft. I didn't like the sheath that came with it---opens from the bottom! That made no sense to me. If the snaps came open your 'hawk would fall out. Makes more sense to have a leather sheath with a single snap/flap and slide it in from the top.

Best picture I could find. They wrap paracord on the handle. Kind of light, which makes it less tiresome to swing. I think the wood handle will give it the oooomph it needs.

I carry a roofing hammer with me when out on camping trips, etc. Not very good for throwing, but great for outdoor projects. Like building missiles or hammering trigger pins into landmines, etc., etc.
