Time Machine Chefs

Might be a fun look see.

On ABC THURSDAY, AUGUST 16 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET)

"Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a chef in 1416 A.D., or to cook in a medieval castle for kings and queens during the Tudor era? Well fasten your seatbelts and prepare for a journey through time when Time Machine Chefs blasts off", THURSDAY, AUGUST 16 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. With no modern appliances, amenities, running water or electricity, four popular chefs must create culinary masterpieces -- and impress three esteemed judges -- with only basic kitchen equipment, their imaginations and craftsmanship.

Thanks! I found it and it's on at 10 here, and it's dark by then so I'll be in to watch it.

I saw a couple of sections of it. pretty neat. especially seeing the conditions they are cooking in . the 1532 from the Tudors is something else.

I like the concept and it was interesting to see how the chefs handled cooking in such situations but like Crispin, I found it to be a little boring.

I could have done without all of the cheesy pretend time travel and cheap light show, it was not dramatic or interesting, just silly. I think they need to take a more direct approach and skip the dumb time machine prop.

Germanish.. I have only seen it a few times but it is quite impressive. huge kitchen fires no wonder it was so well loved. the cast iron "spiders" skillet on legs were too cool. I wonder if u can get them now.

the menus we anything but boring. lots of wine. woohoo

Have to agree with Crispin and Trixter. Total case of the commercial better than the product. Although I was facinated with the creation of a bizzare animal in the Tudor part of the program. Also wonder what the Animal Rights activists thoughts are on the use of dogs to run the rotisseri. It takes a bit of time to roast some meat over an open fire.

I saw some of that, too. I also watch Extreme Chef on Food Network.....that was more of what I was looking for. They dumped them in deserted location and they had to hunt for stuff to make a restaurant dinner. It was things that would last "long term"....they found a tin of sardines, spam, duck stored in fat, etc. They had flares or steel wool and batteries to light their fires, etc. Extreme Chef : Food Network

Well!!! I have a timemachine attachment for my tractor!! Now wheres that extra jug of diesel fuel? No doubt they won't have any when I get to 1066. Ever notice how so many time machine tractors are abandoned at the Battle of Hastings? It's because they didn't bring enough extra fuel to get back home. A fool and his time machine are soon parted.

It was not at all what I expected and I don't think I'll watch it again.
I did have a good laugh about the dogs turning the spits.
