Is anyone familiar with the Remington 1911?

I was just wondering if anyone is familiar with the Remington 1911 in 45? I held one today and the balance was good. I have only shot Remington rifles. Never any pistols.

I have a Paraordinance 45 that I am not satisfied with and would like to replace. It is small in my hand and the action is rough.

A friend of mine has an R1 “Enhanced”:

He’s been out to my place shooting it a couple times, about 200 rds yesterday as a matter of fact while we were shooting IDPA drills. I’ve also fired it a couple times. I’ve never seen him have an issue with it, and he shoots primarily cast lead reloads. There’s one other guy in our IDPA club shooting one, and I haven’t heard any issues there either. The trigger is “OK” by 1911 standards, very good by service pistol standards. Fit and finish is what you’d consider good for a production pistol. It’s not a “tight” 1911 such as Baer, Wilson, Nighthawk, but that sort of tightness AND reliability takes handwork to achieve. It also seems to be pretty accurate as is.

I’ve owned 12 1911s over the years, including the 2 Les Baer’s I currently own, I’d say the R1 is a solid value.
