he's on board!

DH was actually looking at MREs last night. he told me that he thinks we should get maybe 30 packs per person, plus some long term storage items like rice, beans, etc. and a walter filtration unit. and a few other things. and make up a bug out bag.

bless his heart, he doesn't realize that i have done a good portion of that! LOL

he mentioned the other day that one of his coworkers has BOBs for his whole family, and several different locations for them to bug out to, along with food stored at each location. i have no idea if that is what changed his mind, or what.

i am so glad. he has "pretended" to agree before, then never done anything. i don't think heis pretending this time. just to be safe, i may give him a copy of One Second After for Christmas! LOL

where should one start on their preps? i have a small amount of food (maybe 1 months worth, on the shelves; another month or two in the freezers). alot of what is in the freezers can be canned if needed, and i have some cans, lids, etc.

i have some seeds from last year - will those be okay to plant?

read that link/thread. It has a lot of good information within it.

Others will come along to give more information, I'm pretty sure.

Seeds from last year should be fine; you can always do a germination test if they were stored poorly (with lots of heat and light). See my post to Nomad about how to start.

BOBs for me are hard to figure. I don't work that far from home that I couldn't walk, but the kids are 25 miles from home at school. They do not have BOBs, but they also have an excellent school system and teachers that are pretty astute when it comes to prepper stuff. The main things I carry in my car this time of year is blankets, hats, and gloves. it gets mighty cold here, and even if it's a minor thing (car breaks down and I have to wait for someone to pick me up), I want to be warm.
