without being asked...

germs have invaded my body and given me my 3rd cold of the year
-pass the tissues and cough drops-

without being asked...DD 16 put a loaf of bread on(bread machine) before going to school this morning...AND got a fire ready to be lit! (its been about 10 degrees in the morning the past couple of days) I could her but I don't want to share my germs....DD10 did her chores w/o me having to check and recheck progress...not one of the goats misbehaved this morning!

its the little things on tough days that make me feel so much better!

The little things make all the difference.

I hope you feel better soon. Have you thought about trying something to boost your immune system? That's a whole lot of illness.

That might be a good idea. LOL! But still... maybe some vitamins, too? I have kids in school who bring the germs home and am anemic, not borderline, and always have been. If I get sick more than once a year I know something is not right.

Try drinking only out of brass glasses and cups and see if that improves your anemia and resistance. Also get a brass pitcher to put drinking water in for the fridge. It will leach tiny amounts of copper into the water and that frequently will clear up anemia.

Make sure the kids wash their hands completely when they get back from school, and don't touch their books, bookbags, etc. Maybe you are just getting the colds from contacting their "dirty" hands/things.

There is report of a study(heard it on the radio) done at the Cleveland Clinic of the product "Coldeze" saying it shortens the duration of the common cold by 50% due to zinc ions in the upper resperatory tract(keeps the virus from replicating). Pricey product but to shorten a cold by HALF???

Make sure to have stuff with vit. C in it when you have your iron rich foods. When you combine the vitamin c with iron your body will absorb it better.

Had never heard of the brass. Interesting. The thought of drinking water out of anything metal makes me shudder though. Can't do it. I'm really sensitive to metallic tastes. Makes my teeth hurt.

We've had spaghetti and chilli with meat and extra hot sauce the past couple of dinners...plenty of C and iron (homegrown beef) ZINC totally makes me nauseated...we have zicam with C and hock patuey...my husband swears by it!

I think that the copper thing may be correct because I remember my mom telling the doc when I was first tested and treated for anemia that she had me on cows milk at 4 months old...

I hear you OH about metal dishes...or plastic for that matter...glass or pottery porcelain for me....but I might be able to cook in a copper pot...I do use cast iron already

Never heard that being anemic would make you more prone to catching the latest bug going around but maybe that is my problem. The only time I wasn't borderline or full blown anemic was when I was pregnant. Apparently the iron in the prenatal vitamins agreed with me when all the previous iron supplements I had tried did not. Maybe I should go back to taking those.

THIS!

Never heard of brass helping with anemia but I've had allot less trouble since I got married then when I was a teen. With DH cam cast iron cookware (we've add to the collection since). It's all we use, now, and my anemic symptoms from my teen (and very low blood pressure - the makes you black out kind) are gone.

Yes, and saute that spinach in a cast iron pan!
