"Livin' for the Apocalypse"

I was looking through headlines this morning on MSN. Came across this title for a new show that premeires Sunday on TLC at 10pm. People were talking about how they believe 2012 is going to be the end of life as we know it and were joking about zombies, etc. I didn't know how to put the link on here for the trailer. Sorry. My question is: Why would people go on tv to advertise what they have and what they are doing??!??

Ernie is my real name. My photo has been posted on this website. A substantial number of readers of this site have been to my home.

I guess at a certain point I just felt that my obligation to inform and help others outweighed my desire to maintain good OPSEC.

Maybe these people feel the same way.

Ernie: I guess that makes sense. It just goes against everyone saying, "Don't tell others what you have, and where you live" type thing, so I wondered why people would do that at a risk of their stash being confiscated.
BTW: I enjoy reading all of your posts! Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us.

I think the general attitude has changed as things have progressed. The more people who prep, the less likely there will be zombie hoards terrorizing the population.

Whereas before there was a very small portion of the population that were preppers, it's becoming more mainstream these days, thanks to folks that are willing to share their knowledge.

Now if we can just get that knowledge to the inner cities........

I'd be interested in watching this to see what they say, but I don't have tv. If anyone watches it, please post your opinion of the show. Thanks!

What percentage do you all think really is prepared for any disaster, great or small? It's just daunting thinking that there are so many out there that do not have a clue.

This guy has good basic information. I enjoy reading this stuff because there is always another perspective.

I just watched it. They made a joke out of being prepared.

The only ones who did not appear totally insane were the two families- the one with the grown children and the young couple with the two little ones- and even then TLC managed to edit so they looked like kooks.

I think the TLC crews are at it again. I worked with a woman who did the trading spaces show and it was a disaster. They talked her into acting and doing things she didn't want to do because they wanted it to look better. And it resulted in her child being put in danger.

That technique coupled with the editing of the reasons for prepping, resulted in all the people appearing crazy for doing what they did. This makes ANYONE who is even thinking of getting prepared, as simply a person in desperate need of professional help and a ton of meds.

After all this is the United States all is well and will always be well, go back to sleep now.

They lost me at the two "ladies"

Now if they had opened the show with a guy named Ernie who writes a Bunker Index for an internet forum... That would've made it worth while...

But just imagine the "creative" editing they would do to him!

It isnt on here yet, a little under an hour to go. I wondered if thats what it was going to be, trying to make prepper's look like crazy people.

I like the couple with the swimming pool with the chickens over top because they seemed more like normal preppers.
OTOH that dr survival is a little overboard with his "1 is none and 2 is 1" that he kept repeating, and his "be prepared or be prepared to be fleesed"
