50 Things Every American Should Know About the Collapsing Econ.

http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/a...of-the-economy

Today is my day for preaching to the choir. Still, here's some good bullet points that we may not have all considered.

What's your favorite?

I have to pick one? I mean, I knew many of those already, but to see that list and all those numbers right next to each other......

Ugh. Probably the one about how only 66.8% of men were employed last year. That is freaky.

Can a nation prosper when millions of children are aborted?

No kidding. Kinda hard to raise up good people when kids are so undervalued. OT, but did you realize you would get less time for killing your baby than an adult?

Yup, that's what we see, hear and suspect.
Thanks for sharing the link, I'm forwarding it on.

I long for the days that we had only the electric, cable and rent bills...and we always got tax refunds from federal and state, now we pay and pay.

#3, #13, #27

#27 got me in place to be #3, then I ended up #13 and have been there since 2006.

I've always been a more or less simple person that didn't need a lot to be happy. But I miss being able to give more.

but a positive result -
These years have caused me to focus and become more driven to be self sufficient. It's harder now to aim at that target with less assets and resources. But I doubt I would have pursued the self sufficiency direction if this had not happened to me. God knows what he is doing, as we usually learn the hard way.

Thanks Ernie, like the messenger, hate the message. You're better when you're funny !!

#21 J P CHASE MORGAN, makes more money with every additional person that signs up for food stamps. Did not pursue that one, I don't need a heart attack.

# ?? Government transfer payments, that one was curious enough to look, it means lots of things, veterans aid, WELFARE, medicaid, looooonngg list. By definition it is payments from those who have TO those that don't have and do NOT render a service for the payment / transfer.

http://www.bea.gov/ interesting site.

A person hears one statistic about the US economy and says it's a shame but their life continues with a swipe of the credit card for a new outfit and going out to dinner at a fancy restaurant. Just hit that snooze button and everything is fine.

A few weeks or a month goes by and they hear another alarming statistic and start to get concerned but the POTUS says the economy is recovering so they just figure it'll all work out----hit the snooze button again.

THEN they see a list like this and hopefully wake up. I'm sending this article to many people I know who are still hitting that snooze button.

Thanks for sharing it Ernie.

#10, #11, #12 (flooding, tornado, BP oil spill) all greatly concern me as combined with the other world disasters that are occuring (drought, tsnuami, etc...) I wonder how these all combined will affect the world's food basket and in particular our US food basket?

#15 The U.S. dollar is in such bad shape that now even Steve Forbes is predicting that the U.S. is "likely" to go back to a gold standard within the next five years.

#16 Most Americans don't realize how much the U.S. dollar has been devalued over the years. An item that cost $20.00 in 1970 would cost you $115.93 today. An item that cost $20.00 in 1913 would cost you $454.36 today.

#23 Back in 1965, only one out of every 50 Americans was on Medicaid. Today, one out of every 6 Americans is on Medicaid. (The reason meidacare is failing)

I have lost hope and am planning for the collapse.

#16 The devalueation of the dollar.

This is the one that quirks me. They tell us to invest our saving into 401k's and such but by the time you get old enough to retire, you still ain't got much to retire on. If you had invested 100 dollars when you was 18 and retire 40 years later, that 100 dollars along with the matching 100 dollars from your employer does not buy the amount your original 100 dollars will buy you when you was 18. This system was all designed to make somebody else rich, but not us.

My favorites were:

#6 If you can believe it, one out of every seven Americans has at least 10 credit cards.

#7 Credit card usage in the United States is on the increase once again. During the month of March, revolving consumer credit jumped 2.9%. Sadly, it looks like Americans have not learned their lessons about the dangers of credit card debt.

I think this is very true! In this instant gratification society of today, some folks will put themselves right back into bankruptcy and foreclosure. Right now I suspect that a lot of people are putting gasoline on their credit cards, maxing them out. I heard one news show talk about the "pent up wants" of consumers and so now they are getting those credit cards out again, since they have paid down some of the amounts. Makes me glad I don't use any credit cards at all............
