Looks like the sheeple may be starting to get a bit of a clue, if something like this was asked of a reader for slate (mainstream media):

"Can I take my dogs pills?"

Even though the author says "you really shouldn't....", he admits that it "probably" wouldn't hurt ya.

I know a few people that have taken horse bute pills. Many of the drugs my horses may get are the same as people drugs. Same with the dog.

I currently use a nazal ointment for horses. It has over the counter ingredients and is much the same as people products. It works better though. I like to try these general ointments and liniments that I use on horses on myself to make sure that they actually do what they are supposed to. If I pull a muscle, I often use the same concoction that I would use on a horse. The horse can't tell me if it feels good, get's too hot or too cold or if it does anything at all.

I havn't had much of a need to try prescription drugs for animals but I research what all of these horse meds do and you can find most of them in the household books on drugs. Yes, I have used some.

DS used fish antibiotics to cure the "Katrina Krud" a few years ago. The script written by the doc was going to cost a small fortune. Pharmacist told DS the fish meds are the same thing, only 1/2 strength so double the dosage.

I keep several varieties of the fish meds on hand, both for myself and for my dogs. Tons cheaper than the Rx variety!!

My dd just finished up a course of Fish-Mox. Did the trick on her ear infection.
