Moving to a Secessionist State
If a state were to secede from the Union (for whatever reasons), would you make it a priority to move there if its declared reasoning matched your principles?

I'd have to take Alaska off that list, while we lived there, most everyone we met whined about something or someone....course, maybe just that particular village, you never know.

Nope. Not unless my extended family agreed to move with us, which would be highly unlikely as we all have a stake in the local community, jobs, careers, property, businesses, relationships etc. There is strength in family, especially family located near enough to each other that resources can be shared and "trading" can be done...

Wouldn't seem to matter much either way does it? None of the local gov't folks are going to actually do it. There is not a state in any of the 50 that could survive on it's own resources with the exception of Montana and possibly Wyoming due to the low population/resource ratio. There would definitely hae to be an increase in the trade system within the state and a whole new taxing set-up to help support itself. You've also got to consider it's own military and commerce ability... everything would have to be flown into either of those states for the most part due to dams blocking the waterways. I just don't see the feasibility of it. Good concept but a reality check jumps up real fast.
ETA - I guess Alaska might be able to handle it.

No. There is nothing wrong with the union. Just the people that currently populate it.
Now I have gone to the effort to remove myself from the federal zone that overlays the state. Can't let the feds have too much control.

I would love to move back to Texas, so there is a strong possibility.

We're already in Idaho and if Montana secedes we'd imagine Idaho will follow suit.
We're all heavily armed and do defend our right to whine about the cold weather however... In fact we live in the high desert and whining about the HOT weather is set to begin in late June or early July. During April and May I personally only whine when I have PMS.

Not if it was up north, I don't like cold weather. If it was Texas, I'd run across the border if I had too. I have tons of family down there and hope my kids & grandkids would hop over the border with me. If they refused to go, I'd probably stay with them. What can I say, I have a strong "mama" gene.

If it happens hopefully it won't be just one state. 3 or 4 states might could make a go of it.

If so, you might want to avoid the border states, too. In the last War of Secession, the border states had it worse than most other states.

If a western state, or group of states, seceded, Washington DC would applaud and be the first to recognize it as a new country.

i like where i live, and no matter what the politics, i would not be cowardly enough to move. i'd rather stand proudly and shout my beliefs from the rooftop and forget about those who disagree.

I would have to stay here. As a true blue Texan, I couldn't live anywhere else.

Why exactly would it be cowardly to move? I'm in Illinois now, but would rather be in Texas. If Texas were to secede from the union and draft a new constitution that I felt would afford me and my children more freedom, I'd move post-haste across that border as soon as I felt it wasn't going to erupt in all out war.
On these matters, it's best to take the long view. Ask yourself, "How will my grandchildren be affected?"

My husband has already said as much about moving if gun control gets any worse....that said it would have to be a northern state....
I've been to AK and there are those that whine and complain and want based on heritage. Many are addicted to something, but heck we have that here in Maine! Fortunately AK has many more acres to spread out in....the further you live from town though means less convenience, less paying jobs and more day to day "homework" to get by and stay prepared for Mother Nature.....a gun is a useful thing indeed!

The US Constitution was designed to promote competition among the states. The idea being that people will flow to the states that have more freedom.
This idea has been eclipsed by the leviathan federal government and the stretching of things like the interstate commerce clause and the 14th Amendment beyond elasticity, and by reading tea leaves regarding the emanations from the penumbras.
In short, we can no longer escape the theft of freedom by moving to another state because we now have a super central government controlling everything we do. I can reduce the burden of state law but never escape federal law.
IMO we will never return to state's rights as the entire system is broken and convoluted mainly by power hungry politicians and allowed by activists in black robes. The only way out is to secede.
