Wheat Prices...

May get weird.

The futures market for winter wheat got weird last year so about 9% less was planted, according to RFD's "This Week in Agribusiness". This cold weather hit a lot of the crop with very little snow cover. We will know in a week or so how it fared.

We got ours in. It is currently under a good snow cover but may get flooded out this Spring in one of our fields. We got it in late as it was wet here last fall and then froze early but it got a fairly good start before it froze. Hopefully we will get a decent crop.

I'm beginning to wonder if we'll have a winter wheat crop here. It hasn't rained so the wheat hasn't even sprouted.
