Best way to store canned goods under the bed?

I'm trying to figure out how exactly I would easily retrieve canned food items that I would be storing under a king sized bed. Are there long plastic bins that I could put the cans into or does anyone have a design for some kind of plywood skid or box that would fit this situation?

you may try those plastic totes that are made for wrapping paper, they are long and not so deep, you could always drill a couple holes in the end and put rope through to pull them out with. just one thought

I have been thinking about this to. Go to goggle and type in "under bed storage" there are several types of containers made just for that. I would recommend one with wheels because canned goods are heavy. I'm waiting until summer gets here before I start rearranging and organizing my preps.

Ikea used to have roll out drawers for under beds, We have several and they are great. Not too expensive.

I use the

totes made to go under beds. Only I find that I have to raise the beds up a bit to get them to fit under our beds. The ones I have, have rollers on the bottoms and they slide fairly easily, but I don't load them up with cans. I use that space for lighter weight items. Not saying it won't work, just that I haven't done it.

yep, rolling storage containers work great, and if the bed isn't high enough you can buy risers for about $10 that will raise the bed up a few inches.

You could do what I did and use bricks, but then you might do what I did and kick one at 3am and end up with a broken toe

I now have a plateform bed and I store cans inside the platform

Can you access both sides of the bed? Is a small carpentry project out of the question?

My idea is to make a storage outfit that you put cans in on one side and retrieve from the other. It would have dividers to keep the cans in the slots so they would roll smoothly. It would be a couple of inches higher on one side than the other with a lip at the low end. You would lift each can over the lip to remove it, but it wouldn't be able to just roll onto the floor. You would store the cans on their sides so they could roll. A couple of sheets of plywood and a bunch of 1x2s should do the trick.

What a fantastic idea to usespace and rotate too!! Love it.

My bed does not clear the enough for somthing with wheels, but I betthat I could make this work!

I like Cyngbaeld's idea, if you can get at both sides of the bed. I put my daughter's and my beds up on dressers (now we need stools to get into bed) so we could have more storage space under the beds. We both have twin beds, so the space behind the dressers is narrow, but you can get a lot of stuff in there. So, if you are considering making your bed higher, why not go a LOT higher!

I bought large clear under the bed storage bins on sale for $7 each. Two of them fit under our king size bed with room for maybe one more small one at the bottom. Very easy to slide in and out.
Also have an old steamer trunk at the foot of the bed that was bought at an auction for $10.

I used old dresser drawers. Four large ones fit under my bed.I laid them each on a baby blanket so they would slid out easier. Works for me!

Here's an idea I've been thinking about. I haven't tried it so I don't know if it would work or not.

I have an idea to make a "shelf" for the box springs to set on. Fix it up to open kind of like the hood of a car opens.

Then use boards to make a frame the size of the box springs that would fit perfectly under the bed so nothing can be seen if some snoop lifts the bed ruffle.
