As gas prices go up...more crime

but I guess not just gas prices. But, as they go up, will we see more crimes like this?

http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?stor---=87950

I posted it here, because I think this is just a beginning of these kind of crimes. What will happen when it hits $4.00 a gallon or more? As food prices start going way up, will we see people breaking into other people's homes to steal food?

Unless you live in BFE, things like this may become a problem soon.

You betcha!
You can expect all sorts of interesting new crime that's gasoline related! LA gang members use stolen credit cards to buy gasoline now. It's one of the few credit card transactions a thief can perform without an ID check. Some members have go so far as to rig special tanks to carry as much as 400 gallons of stolen gas. They then take the gas payed for with YOUR card back to their hood, where they can sell it for cash. Just imagine getting into a car accident with some bozo carrying 400 gallons of gas in the back!

I've notced the gas stations around here have started forceing you inside to pay first. Luckily since I always use the same station to fill up on the way home they know me so they just turn the pump on then I come in. I think they got alot of complaints from the regulars customers because for aout 2 weeks they weren't letting anyone fill up now they have gone back to letting us slide:baby04:

The gas stealing thing hasn't started here yet, or else it isn't getting reported. But it wouldn't surprise me when it does.

What do you mean *when* it hits $4

My usual fuel place (for gas) . . .diesel ...$ 4.15

You might want to change that to ...$ 5.00 a gallon

That will be sooner than you think.

How many "drive off's" will there be then . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Looks like there some real stupid criminals around. Really does not make much sense to poke a hole in a gas tank for a dishpan full of gas and leave the catilitic converter that may be worth $50-$100 (shown in the same picture). It seems like a simple drive off would be neater, cleaner and a lot more productive.

Its already 4/gal here.I saw 4.10 diesel yesterday.

Nothing has changed except pay more when you fill up.

.
As food prices rise you may need to hide your livestock, and garden produce, which won't be that far down the road, before they steal them all.

Well the gas tank on each of my Ford pickup trucks, is located inside the cab behind the seat. My 4X4 GMC S-15 Jimmy has a gas tank external shroud. All vehicles have locking gas caps on them. My spare gasoline is locked up with my generators, and power tools.

So am I safe from fuel thieves, or am I gonna have to post an armed guard now!!!!

Just plain old armed robbery is up here in Oklahoma. You could get held up in the parking lot of a resturaunt, walmart, or even they could come busting into your house while your watching t.v. They are getting very brave.

I got to get me a hand gun and get my concealed weapons permit. Just in case!

Theft is getting WAY worse here too and in the past couple weeks they are doing it with weapons. Coffee shops, taco stands etc. have been getting hit really hard - when employees are IN them even!!! Friday at the Walmart just down the road a guy tried to swipe a computer and as soon as he got outside and the police confronted him, he drew a knife on them and tried to run off. Got caught luckily!!! I worry about my wood shed - I just had 5 bags of cans and bottles stolen while I was at work. I thought I had them out of sight but they must have gotten brave and decided to have a little "look around" in there!!!

I so agree,a handgun within reach in the house is a good idea for home invasion.
