Real talk from Iraq

Interesting article, an interview with Kurdish commanders in Iraq. One of them laughs at the notion of Shiite militias and the barely-existent Iraqi Army going into Mosul.

Quote:
“It just seems to me like the Iraqi (Arabs) lack a certain morale to be soldiers, and I don’t want to directly accuse them of anything, but every time they fight Daash, they lose ground and equipment that ends up being used against us,” he said, using the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State. “It’s very suspicious and I don’t think they want to fight them.”

Fighting a war by remote control isn't going to work. I truly wish we hadn't spent so much blood and treasure taking apart Iraq to begin with, I am not sure our war-weary nation is ready for another ground war in Iraq, but thats what it might take.

I doubt it will happen. Obama would rather see Iraq fall to ISIS than put large numbers of troops back in there. Besides, ISIS, Obama, and Turkey all have the same goal and that is to get rid of Assad in Syria because Assad stands in the way of a caliphate. ISIS and Turkey want a caliphate for religious reasons of restoring the old Ottoman Empire and Obama wants it, perhaps for the same reason, but definitely because he thinks one entity ruling the Arab Middle East would be easier to work with.

The article is from a Kurdish view point in one location. Interesting, but not necessarily indicative of other areas. My response was to your comments below the article.
