Meeting a deer this morning

What a way to start an early morning. While on my way taking my daughter to work this morning before 6:00 a.m., a yearling decided to hit my car while I was going about 45 miles/hr. Not much damage to the car, but scared the crap out of my daughter. She doesn't have her license yet and said, "Now you know why I don't want to drive mom". Of course it messed up hubby's plans for the morning. I felt so bad for the deer. It weighed about 100 pounds or so. Thank God my two sons were able to give my husband a hand. They are awesome guys. I am babysitting GS right now while our one son is helping out. I know it could have been much worse and I am grateful that it wasn't. Just feel so bad for the little deer. It looks like we will be having a little deer in the freezer, and yes, I will be eating it. We are still eating deer from last fall that my DIL hit on her way to work.

Why waste meat? It sounds like Robin Hood need a visit to your state.

Hubby said the deer was probably over a year old. The police did come and I was told I could take the deer. There are a lot of deer around here. In fact, after picking up this deer, hubby almost hit a buck with his vehicle. Wow, what a day! Hubby cut up the deer and I did all the wrapping. It didn't bother me. I grew up in a household where Mom and Dad both hunted. We were taught how to use a gun at a young age and to respect it. Dad was also a policeman for many years and a range officer at a gun club.
