Norovirus vs. food poisoning?

I don't think I've ever had either one of these before but I'm pretty sure it was one of these or the other last night. No lie, if someone would've had a gun I'd have used it, the stomach pain was that bad, like nothing I've ever felt before and I'm a mom of two. Worse than labor pain.

I've lost 5 pounds and could barely get the kids off to school - thankfully I work from home and am taking a short break here but haven't felt like eating anything. Ugh. I might have picked it up on our recent short trip.

Thanks - I just wish I knew what it was to prevent getting it (or eating whatever I did) ever again in the future.

I have that sometimes when I get real mad. It feels like a knife in the middle of the stomach. Mine is caused by either gas or bile in the pancreatic area.

Noro virus has a smell, a smell you will never forget. As dose the roto virus. Both the viruses transfer to animals. Like bovine and capine. Any way you slice it all three stomach issues are horrible! Rest and get better!

Best advice that I can give is to become a germophobe! Carry hand sanitizer and wash your hands often. If you order food in a restaurant, be sure that it is served piping hot. Lots of nasties grow in restaurant soup pots because they often keep the temperature too low.

Hope you feel better soon!

The thing most likely to poison you in most restaurants is gravy. Many times it sits in a pot staying warm -not hot. Allows incredible amounts of bacterial growth.
Being on the road and eating in restaurants for almost 40 years taught me a long time ago to not eat gravy. I learned the hard way. It's painful even to think about the lessons, lol.

I am a gravy fanatic too so I would probably risk it.

Thanks everyone. What's odd is that we rarely/never eat out. The only thing I did out of routine was go to Caribou where I got my usual coffee with heavy cream. Not sure if it was that, but I did call the store to report it, just in case there was something off with the whipping cream.

It's weird..it was gone quickly but boy..without too TMI, nothing like both ends at once. I kept replaying that scene from Bridesmaids. LOL. Nice I can laugh at it now.

Could be either. With the winter we've had and lots of folks staying indoors for long periods, viruses have run rampant. Not saying that it couldn't be food poisoning.

If you are running a fever with it, though, best to see your GP. O/W make sure you get plenty of fluids, if you're losing them quickly (that's those 5 lbs.), take some Gatorade. One can dehydrate VERY quickly. If you become disoriented, you need to get to the ED, ASAP.

Get well soon!
