Great Sense of Humor? You're Crazy!

Something to worry about? Or just another meaningless study?

Personally, I find this study humorous. Hmm, what does that mean?

So people with a sense of humor aren't sheeple. Big deal.

"The researchers recruited 523 comedians - 404 men and 119 women - and asked them to complete an online questionnaire designed to measure psychotic traits in healthy people."

Subtle put down. It implies comedians are not mentally healthy and are therefore psychotic. Somehow, somewhere, some twit got the idea that conformity is the standard by which all people must be judged. In order to come to that conclusion, he had to be non-conformist and psychotic.

(I much prefer the study that showed all politicians to be sociopaths.)

Oh yeah - If I was a comedian involved in that study, I would intentionally skew my answers. Having them "discover" that comedians were psychotic and held researchers in poor regard would be fun.

I knew a man that was a sociopath that thought his sense of humor was a sense of humor instead of sociopath behavior.

He laughed at the meanest things I ever saw.

He had one child. Apparently he didn't shield his 'sense of humor' from the child.

When his wife was pregnant for the 9th time, she had lost many children in her pregnancies. She had her uterus sewed shut so she wouldn't lose the child. He left town on business. The child they had pulled the chair out from under his mom, as a joke, and she began to bleed. The child didn't understand that a prank like that could end a life.

When he (the father) returned from out of town he talked about this and then the next day found a way for him to blame his wife for her behavior--she walked on a soccer field and that caused the bleeding. He said his child could never do something so bad, and that he (the child) might do that to him, as a joke, but never to his wife as a joke. Except that he did.

This is how we make sociopaths.Sometimes I feel like throwing up from knowing the people I know.

Apparently a sense of humor is a strange thing. I know a lady who has absolutely no sense of humor. I've had to explain every joke I've ever told in her presence, and when she tries to retell it to someone else she misses the punch line. She's a very upbeat, optimistic person, and a very good salesperson. Hard to explain.

So she's an android? They often can seem personable on the surface and not comprehend humor.

I have studied psychiatry and psychology. Umm... psychiatry is far more a pseudo science and, there is this razor's edge that is normal.... all else is abnormal, even if not maladaptive, when maladaptive should be the measure of abnormal.
