Google buys Nest.

So does this mean that someone in Mountain View CA can adjust the temperature of my house to make it like it is out there?

In all seriousness..I was looking at getting Nest but have now decided against it. It all seems too big-brotherly to me. I'll stick to my plain old thermostat.

..editing to add in a link: http://venturebeat.com/2014/01/13/go...onnected-home/ From the article - the bold part is mine: "Pre-empting privacy concerns, Nest co-founder and EVP of engineering Matt Rogers noted in a blog post that Nest customer data will be limited to “providing and improving Nest’s products and services.” While that could always change down the line, for now there’s a clear wall between Nest’s customer data and Google."

Eventually, everything will be owned by four companies and the predictions of the creation of the Quadrilateral Conglomerate will come true.

Google, Yahoo, ATT, Verizon, Sprint, ABC, NBC, CBS, & I could go on are all more than willing to give the Government anything they want regardless of privacy, personal info, or you name it.
Everything we type on this forum is collected in some data base that is controlled by big brother.
Our Constitution is being shredded as we sit here. The world is changing & very fast. It is much more clear to us old people, because we got to live in a much freer time in history.
