Unhappy Cabin Fever?

Ok I have a feeling Cabin Fever is going to be real Bad for me this year. In the past from September through February I have spent basically every day outside, hunting, fishing and camping. Have always looked forward to this season, which I was already had invested on New Things to try.

Well I was operated on Surgeon said nothing for 8 months and he would feel better with a year. Most part I have been listening, went camping for a week with a Son, stayed in Camp, the terrain tore my Son up Went hunting couple times with Sons, drove to a field, set Blind up set in it. Have went fishing couple times where I could drive to the river.

Did I take it easy? No couple times it was clear I over did it, had Bad Stomach pain where I pulled something, took Pain Medication and let it heal.

Thing is I know being cooped up is going to get to me any ideas?

Wow, I wish I had some good advice for you. I know where you're coming from, though. How about trying your hand at leather working? Wood carving of ducks or fishing lures? If you're in to fly fishing, how about tying some flies? Other advice is don't push it and do the exercises the medical people tell you to. Glad to see you're back.

Beads would be good too. I would suggest reading, but I'm not a reader other than outdoors magazines.

If you have the space, set up a table and a fluorescent shop light so you can start some seeds to have plants to set out come spring.I have even grown lettuce and green onions in the house that for some reason,,never made it to the garden.

A while back i found a 4 foot 4 tube fluorescent light at a yard sale for 5$.I have it growing cabbage and lettuce right now.Cabin Fever? - General Chat

when I'm laid up I try to do things that will have me ready to do the things I like when I am able. I like to fish so when I'm not able to fish I work on my fishing gear, clean my rods, new line on my reels, sort my tackle etc. If I can't hunt I clean guns, repair any of my outdoor clothing etc. anything you can do that makes you feel like you are getting prepared to do the things you really want to be doing helps.

When there was a butcher about 8 or 10 miles away, I used to get horns and make powder horns to sell locally. Never get rich, but it's kind of a public service, and not everyone can say they've done it. I've got on-going heart issues, and will have a defib replacement in January. Hauling wood in for heat is going to be interesting. (But this will be my 7th defib, so I"m getting used to it...) I'm already casting about for a small motorcycle to restore, or something I can do to make a dollar or two. Maybe bake cookies and sell them at our local farmer's market....I dunno.

Maybe you could do things like smoke fish someone else has caught, for a share of the catch? Make jerky? Something you can do at home and at your own pace.....beyond that, I can understand the minor panic.....nothing worse than boredom in the Winter!

Best of luck, and heal quickly!

You made it back to HT just in time. Part of an essential diet.

Do you have any interest in learning with a musical instrument?

Another amazingly great idea. Or, more than likely, just another so-so idea. Scrimshaw. Painting, as in on canvas, not the garage.

With apologies for the mini thread break, a defibrillator keeps my heart beating (like a pacemaker) and when it refuses to keep beating right, the defib gives me a 500 volt shock. Picture the paddles on the TV shows, where the medic yells, "Clear" and the shocked body jumps around. That's me, only it is built in, under the skin of my left shoulder. I've out-lived six of the things, so this will be lucky number Seven! Hope that answers the question...

Sorry for the commercial break, and now back to your regularly scheduled Thread........

Barb
